"I get the impression you think that all drugs are "cocaine" or another hard drug that's chemically dangerous."

No I'm aware there are plenty of other drugs, but those are not the ones we are talking about here, and I think the stamp refers to drugs the classical drugs to get high.

"Both of these things can be used for bad, but they can also be used for good."

Yes, again, there is huge difference

Sex is a necessity, a primary one like you mentioned.

Your body doesn't need drugs, unless your medic says the contrary.

Raelsatu In reply to Davirus [2013-02-13 22:12:45 +0000 UTC]

Those are the ones?? Typically when you refer to "Don't do drugs", it means any drug that's illegal. Strangely enough the social stigma puts people addicted to prescription meds as more tolerable compared to one who gets their drug off the street. However, the majority of deaths related to drugs are prescriptions.

If we're only talking about cocaine, meth, & a few other hard drugs; then I'm more inclined to agree with the stamp. Even though I won't tell people what to do with their own bodies. That said, the legal structure puts some of the least harmful substances as the most highly illegal -- DMT for example. Then there are drugs such as tobacco (via cigarette) & alcohol --- which are socially acceptable, despite being the most harmful. See it's not so clear cut.

Sex is only a necessity in the grande scheme; i.e to perpetuate the human species. That said, in the modern world the average person doesn't need to procreate. So what's left over is sex for pleasure, for romance, for sharing the experience with a lover -- or just being promiscuous. Which in and of itself is fine (even healthy). However, the fact still remains that sex is a cause for a great deal of abuse, emotional distress, & most notably the negative effects on children who grow up in broken homes. The worst part of that is that the children are often affected for life, passing problems down to the next generation.

You're correct that the body may not 'need' drugs. Does the body/mind need art? Does the body need any form of external stimuli that makes for a different experience? Well that depends on the individual. You may personally not care for it, and that's ok. But to forcefully impose your own lifestyle upon others is the essence of authoritarianism. I tend to lean towards freedom of body & mind.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Davirus In reply to Raelsatu [2013-02-13 23:07:33 +0000 UTC]

Art is not a need, even if you don't need it there it is, is like air, when you see a beautiful sunset you don't asked for it, but there it is, if you have enough appreciation for it, it can become artistic.

The same of colors in nature, and sounds textures around you.

Did you born yesterday?

"I tend to lean towards freedom of body & mind"

There is something also called "tolerance", you can do whatever you want while you don't hurt other people, you know drugs can make you make stupid things that can hurt or even kill other people, like drive while being drugged.

Freedom of body and mind? And latter you talk about trap your mind in the influence of drugs where you have no control of your body and no control of your mind?

wow

Tell, me, which freedom in body and mind do you have when doing drugs?

Sounds like you are trying just to justify your addiction, no one with their feet on the ground would recommend anyone to try drugs, no recommend it as a life style. Living condemned to an addiction than could hurt your BODY and MIND, even getting aggressive with the more addicted you become to it, it's not what I could call freedom.

Yes, everybody are free to do whatever they want, but that doesn't mean I could be saying in public "hey, being a killer is ok if you only kill assassins", anyone would recommend anyone to not become a serial killer, but in the end it's up to you to understand the consequences.

The same when they told you as kid "don try drugs", guess what, I didn't try any drug just because everybody says so, is not about what everybody does, I just say to my self "Do I need it?: No", "It will make my life better?: No", "it will make me a better person?: No". The same with alcohol or cigarettes.

Raelsatu In reply to Davirus [2013-02-14 00:33:56 +0000 UTC]

It's pointless arguing, seeing as you're stuck in that narrow state of mind. The fact is the drug laws are what prop up & create cartel violence; which I pointed out yet you now ignore. Fact is most drug users are responsible & not addicts. It's a FACT that countless people better themselves &/or have valuable experiences as a direct result of using a drug. It's also a fact that you have never tried a drug before, therefore you really don't have a right to be giving on your opinion on how 'bad' drugs are.

Yes, there is something called tolerance; something which you evidently lack. You think stereotyping drug users and putting them in prison is "tolerance"? As for "knowing drugs can make you stupid and hurt people.", it's a fallacious & nonsensical argument. The drug is not responsble for the acts somebody takes while on it. Responsible & content individuals are non responsible for the acts of others. I see you do wish to lump all drugs & people together, even though in your last post you stated we're only talking about cocaine & such.

The way you speak tells volumes on your knowledge of the subject -- which would be zero; apart from your perception/misconception that drugs are directly intertwined with violence & stupidity. Pure ignorance. Not only have you not bothered to research, but you have no subjective experiences to speak from.
To finish it up you compare drug use to being a serial killer.... wow. Believe whatever you like, but don't respond to me again unless you have something rational/factual to share.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Davirus In reply to Raelsatu [2013-02-14 01:07:37 +0000 UTC]

ยท "You think stereotyping drug users and putting them in prison is "tolerance"?"
Well, if some drug user ends in prison if for something, and obviously there is something illegal in acquiring a drug as I said before, you must be really blind mentally to set him/her free, don't you think?

ยท "The drug is not responsble for the acts somebody takes while on it."
If there weren't a difference between be drugged or being clean, then people wouldn't do drugs then, right?

You are not in total control of your actions given some drugs makes you hallucinate, exaggerate or make your power hungry, you are in total responsibility of your actions, but it's not totally you, it enhance some of your sense of most of them and makes you believe certain things.

ยท "The way you speak tells volumes on your knowledge of the subject"
In the whole conversation I have proved how you are being somewhat hypocritical and irrational about your points, what makes you think you are in position to tell such thing?

ยท"To finish it up you compare drug use to being a serial killer"
No, I didn't you did. (Again, what did you said about knowledge?)

I compared the situation the idiotic sense it makes to someone suggest to do drugs as the same to suggest someone become a serial killer, not that a serial killer is the same that a drug addict.

I have the occasional smoke myself, and I personally don't see how softdrugs are any worse than alcohol... Which is legal.

You can raise arguments all you like, but the reason for that mostly boils down to: Tradition. I personally don't really give a damn about which poison the first world prefers to take, and just occasionally choose to enjoy both.

But if you feel like you gotta keep your hands off drugs to be able to do art properly, then please, don't do drugs. Your art is amazing.

It's a shame when people need drugs for inspirations, since the are is not created by them but influenced by drugs so they really don't have control or a truly idea of what they are doing.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

xXMedicXx In reply to Davirus [2013-02-14 08:30:57 +0000 UTC]

Not true.
Im assuming you've never done any sort of drug which is cool but you won't ever understand until you do.
(I smoked weed so I'm not talking acid or something..) but it opens your mind up to something and some where you've never seen and inspiration is everywhere.
things you'd usually over look pop out at you.
things you didn't get before you now understand clearly..

it's weird but I understand you're point of view

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Davirus In reply to xXMedicXx [2013-02-14 17:04:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know people who use joints. But there is something we are missing here: "The mind is not possible to see something it doesn't known yet or it doesn't comprehend".

True, I haven't tried any kind of drug, not even alcohol, but I have been around alcoholic people and drugged people in college to know enough how they look, the things they says and the things they do and it isn't that special. I know people in the real life who are designers and use marijuana, a LOT, but their work sucks, if like they do a lot but do nothing in the end, is not like marijuana is really helping them to accomplish their works, I have been even asked by them to do their works and they pay me for it.

As musical, artists and designer I have never feel the necessity for expand my mind with any kind of substance of drug since the mind it self can do that, listening to music is a way to motivate, boost and increase your mind activity. Exercise is another way to make ideas flow.

Especially when you live from those ideas, you need control and knowing what exactly you are doing (like advertising).

I certainly doesn't understand why an artist would need yet any kind of drug since all you need it's your own creativity, sounds like if this artists it's mentally incapable to do art by it self and the only way to get ideas is do drugs? It doesn't sound right, not good anyways.

Pushing the limits of your mind being sober is a lot harder, but the satisfaction of success is greater since you did it by your self and no one else, with nothings else.

Someone here talked me about "freedom of mind and body". Being in drugs is a prison cell for both since you don't have full control of any.

Try to freedom your mind and body without any drug and you will found a lot of amazing possibility for your self.

xXMedicXx In reply to Davirus [2013-02-15 23:10:22 +0000 UTC]

It's one of those things..
and all the people you mentioned sound uncreative rather they smoke or not..

if you take a creative person and give them some they will show you amazing things.

So what's the point for an artist to do drugs, if inspiration comes when you are sober?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

xXMedicXx In reply to Davirus [2013-02-21 23:11:05 +0000 UTC]

it comes from both.
you get a different type of inspiration when you're high.

If you're wanting to argue go find someone else to troll,
if you're asking sincerely I will answer as many questions as you have.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Davirus In reply to xXMedicXx [2013-02-22 02:59:16 +0000 UTC]

I doubt you really have the answers since:

1.- You don't work as an artist or live for it, so you have little to non experience in the art / design area.
2.- I know art is about personal taste, but it doesn't seem like you are demonstrate your wide view of things and experience you talk about, I can easily find someone that do something similar that doesn't do drugs, so is not a must.
3.- I have come with some wild ideas, and inspiration without doing drugs, so for personal opinion (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) drugs is not a must to get high.

When you have in control of yourself you can do amazing things. Seems like you are just trying to justify your drug consumption since you know there is no point on doing it other than follow the same trend people around you does.

It's like smoking, people do it for look "cool", but there is no point in fill your lungs with smoke, right? People give tons of justifications and reasons to smoke, but in the end, it's not that you really need it first place.

Artist doesn't need drugs to have wild and impressive ideas, again, it's like someone need a gun pointed to his head to do anything because his laziness.

There are plenty of amazing art in any artistic area (music, photography, painting, gratify, modeling, film, animation and others) that have been created without any drug influence.

It's quite lame when an artist need drug for create. It's like someone need a gun pointed in his head to get things done.
