Ok then!  Here goes:  You are delusional sir, You are not living in a cohesive and realistic world view.  You leave the EU and you are a lil bit larger version of Ireland, perhaps a bit warmer version of Iceland.  You have not done the maths (maths?).  Good luck and here is hoping a nation of merchants can shift back to being a nation of sheep herders with little difficulty.  You could ask Ireland what its like living next to an economic powerhouse who disrespects and ignores you but I am thinking perhaps they might just laugh... a lot.

Also if Brexit happened sooner the trade deals wouldn't have been bad, but everyone had to drag their feet and made things worse.

CoredDesigns In reply to MercenaryX [2020-02-13 06:47:17 +0000 UTC]

Who exactly dragged their feet?  Seems to me that a deal couldn't get done because the British had very inaccurate expectations.  Still seems the same.  I hope it all works out but this destroying things just because you don't understand their worth is unsettling.  I wish people would listen and think things through more carefully.  How anyone EVER placed their trust in Trump or Boris is bewildering.

Theresa may and everybody who wanted to remain in the fricken EU. They're the ones who did not implement brexit immediately like they were supposed to. Even happened sooner then trade deals could have been done immediately with places like the night States instead of taking forever. It's a difference between a butt plug and this giant chainsaw of a deldo in the picture.

Still it was pretty good compared.  My take on the whole thing is just who is Britain now?  France alone would suffer as would Germany.  Britain is in a worse position in my opinion as it is a bit more isolated than mainland countries.  You also have to consider that being an American I am pretty pro Union for very good reasons all of which are insulted by Brexit reasoning.  It's never made sense to me from any angle.  From my point of view the worst error was the Parliament, a body designed to work on political affairs, saying "Ya know what? Lets take the single most important issue we have before us and let the public decide."  That is breach of duty right there.

I blame the remoners Far more because of them and they're dragging of their feet instead of ripping off the Band-Aid , It went from a quick annoyance to a long-drawn-out torturest thing that should not have been. People voted out and they were denied at every turn. If anyone's to blame it's the ones who want to keep Britain in And did everything they could to prevent it from happening. Again it would be like a band-aid ripped off painful but quick and over worth. Instead we're gonna be dealing with it like it's A 7th degree burn.

Nothing quick about leaving an economic and cultural union.  They decided, after a rushed campaign that made the Trumpzi campaign look legitimate, to leave a very powerful group that provided huge benefits to them based on the promises (it seems) of a man whose one distinguishing feature is a comb allergy.  Good luck anyway.

So... better f*cked by the EU than the US?

Because let´s face it, with or without, Brits got f*cked by someone.

EU Parliament members joked they would colonise the Brits.

After becoming a Parliament member even that Remainer Rapper came to the conclusion: f*ck the EU.

Though one thing is clear: at least it´s finally over.

Oh the US is anticipating this... you will make a lovely state.  Think of it as moving in with your kids... in your dementia addled dotage.  Of course we wanted Canada or Australia to take you in but they were all "we had to live with her for years!  You bolted early, you take care of her!" /tongueincheek mode off  Good luck any ways, just kidding there.  Your'e on your own.

And after all i heard the trade deal Trump offered the Brits the EU wishes they would have remained.

Of course it will not be easy for the UK, but they are better prepared for it than the EU without the money they got from UK suddenly.

LOL  You believe Trump???  oh ye gods is that rich.  Yeah! the EU is just SO upset they don't get to play with Trump.  It's a scene really... I am actually rolling on the floor in tears... real tears.  Ahh  I needed a good laugh.

Heretic1311 In reply to CoredDesigns [2020-02-12 11:19:49 +0000 UTC]

The "good deal" part wasn´t said by Trump but by Brits from their perspective.

And once the deal is settled there isn´t much reason for me to "believe" Trump, it´s a binding contract.

So stop laughing and have some trust in the Brits to know how they will get through.

Before the EU they did well, they will be fine without the EU now as well.

Certainly, being part of a bigger organisation can be a lot of help, but then, it also takes away many of your liberties.

For me, when Guy Verhoven said how he finds it reprehensible that the sovereign nations making the EU have not yet given all their power to the EU, i knew i no longer want to be part of that club. Because without their power those nations are no longer sovereign and able to represent their people.

I still bid you be wary of our President.  Before we can bring him to heel he is going to do a lot of damage I fear.  Especially now that our congress has given him carte blanche to do whatever he wants completely independent of the law.
The Brits in the know realize that they were once capable outside of the EU but with the EU in existence they are no longer in the same situation.  My example would be if a state in the US like Texas or Georgia left the union.  Without a huge amount of trade deals it would be easier to just ignore their existence, far better to trade with Tennessee with no difficulties then have to hazard the red tape of dealing with an independent entity.  That is my chief fear for the UK.  They have so few unique products, my concern is that the EU will simply ignore them rather then deal with them.
Yeah... that last paragraph is a whopper.  Giving all your power to a new entity that you distrust is difficult indeed.  My only argument would be straight from the federalist papers.  A nation of independent states with independent governments is no nation.  It will be stronger unified than apart, truth, plain flat out truth, no arguments.
Remember, the empire no longer exists.

"Bring him to heel"? You guys should SUPPORT your president, because even though his character may be flawed, he HAS the best interest of the US in mind.

And that "carte blanche" was no surprise, Impeachment needs a crime to be based on, not some accusations grabbed from thin air. Worse, Dems want a round two!

They already have launched an investigation, but given how unpopular the first one was, this might cost the Dems not just 2020, but also the House.

What he needs is a conviction and then a sentence.  I know you are either joking or deluded but don't be fooled, he has his best interest in mind and only his best interest.  The constitution demands justice based on it's dictates.  He broke constitutional law.  He abused the power of his office, he has openly obstructed justice and he laughs while doing it.  You are a fool if you think this is costing anyone but Trump and the republican party.  The Republicans (my former party) have outed themselves as the party of the swamp they so promised to clean up and they are going out of their way to show that they are now the party that would strip the constitution of all of its powers to control the President.
If you are not an American perhaps you have not witnessed first hand their concerted effort to launch a slow moving coup making America into a single party state.  We finally woke up.  The republicans are dead

My objection is that Jollyjack whines about supposed tyrants when they're not "his team" only to then defend them out of the other side of his mouth when they are "his team".  He's a political sports fan in other words.  Defends his team because it's his team.  He has no clue what politics are really about or he wouldn't be defending the Soviet Union 2.0 which is all the EU is.

Plus, as I've said before, it's pretty pathetic to try and claim you have it tough as a LEFTIST in the UK, a country where the populace has the choice of socialism or diet socialism.  If you're on the left in most of Europe, you have pretty much completely had everything your way for decades so have a cup of STFU when the people you've been leeching off of would like to actually get to keep their hard earned money once in a while.

I say this as someone who used to be on the left.  These days, I am ashamed of that fact.  It blows the mind how lazy, entitled and spoiled rotten the left have become.

It doesnt seem like team vs team for me.  Right now it is insanity vs sanity.  I am all for freedom and liberty and I don't want anyone's hard earned money going to folks that don't deserve it but... has the imperial state of Great Britain ever been called on to pull their weight as a part of a group?  Seems to me that the money has always flowed in one direction.  Sorry to say but hope you're up for a really big change.  And that isn't a chiding statement of someone who dislikes the UK... I am an American conservative who is really feeling the insanity vs sanity question now a days and I have very little tolerance for the insane folk right now.
