Basically CBS started a new Star Trek Series blowing 76 and a half million dollars for the first season in a bid to both take viewers away from Game of Thrones and to get people to subscribe to CBS's streaming service to compete against Netflix.Β
While the visuals are decent they have angered many long time fans in story, character design, and the choice to change the focus of the show.

I was actually just referring to the obvious reference you guys were taking about with the image. I haven't seen an episode of Star Trek since 1999, and I felt that my apathy toward the franchise was justified with the recent movies. The fact that main-stream Hollywood is ruining something treasured is, more or less, par for the course at this point.

Every star trek has that memorable quote
space the final frontier
We are what we are, and we're doing the best we can. It is not for you to set the standards by which we should be judged!
And now βfuckβ

Haven't seen any of it outside the pilot since that's all that aired on tv here in the US, but from everything I hear I'm not missing much.Β Heck, I hear that The Orville is better.

BTW, I think Orville is brilliant. Like this comic.
I mean, seriously.Β I hope you make this a continuing thing.

They decided to have the character say Fuck in the show despite the fact that, as a non-network program, it doesn't have to conform to S&P.

STD has a magic space drive that uses spores that a worm creature can navigate to anywhere in the universe and time the crew wishes.
Yeah its not star trek. They made the reptiles who call themselves klingon eat a dead human woman as part of a ritual to desecrate the dead human body. People who love the klingons are incredibly pissed at STD. In fact its looking like most of the audience is going to give up and STD may be a one season show that is going to get retconed out of existence.

Nah, if I'm not going to pay for something I'm not going to pirate it either. I was just wondering if this was an actual thing that happened on Discovery, that someone said 'fuck' and someone showed boobs. I just strikes as about the two most un-star treky things you can possibly do for the series.
