I can't say I like the Star Wars franchise beyond the various science fiction technology concepts and the visual effects. Aside for the clone and droid soldier interactions, the stories always struck me as boring.

Well, after reading a lot of posts and blogs about what Rogue One is about before the premier of the movie in the theaters, I knew that all the characters are going to die. But, I've never expected that their sacrifices would be that dramatic. It really was an awesome movie.

If Disney had done this right, we would be talking about the further adventures of Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors.

shirowwolf In reply to SpaceMedafighterX [2016-12-18 22:35:25 +0000 UTC]

Β  I think the events in the movie make more sense though, and that it was a group effort that stole the plans, as opposed to more or less one man.

Β Β  Yes, I am sad though that Katarn and Orrs are still being ignored though. :/

To be absolutely fair, I should make it clear I haven't actually seen Rogue One. But after how horrible Force Awakens was, IΒ  honestly have no desire to, and really just want Lucas canon back...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

shirowwolf In reply to SpaceMedafighterX [2016-12-27 14:56:12 +0000 UTC]

Fair enough. As far as the continuity goes, it was a difficult spot to be in. On the one hand, I don't like at all that Disney just threw all continuity away, and said 'everything WE do now is what counts. Everything else, besides the movies, is trash'. They were clearly making a statement. On the other hand, SW continuity had a lot of muddy areas where continuity was just...not regarded well. Lucas himself is even guilty of this with all the stupid edits he kept making to the movies. He didn't CARE if what he did made sense, or contradicted something else. It was his prerogative to do whatever he wanted, but it caused problems. And well, given that Disney is still keeping all of his Updated Special Editions, let's call them, alive and out there, they clearly don't care either.

I liked E7, but do wish they had gone some things differently. Yeah, maybe it was a little too close to E4 in structure. I also was hoping we'd see Leia as a Jedi Knight, or at least, see that that she at least STARTED training prior to the movie (we still don't know she didn't, to be fair though, but it seems...unlikely now). I'm also really not a fan of J.J. Abrahms. But taking the movie for what it is, I thought it was good.

I suggest giving Rogue One a chance. If you're especially looking for standard Lucas continuity, and none of his muck-ups, you'll find some here. This movie couldn't be MORE different from E7, too. Just a thought!
