Best-looking Fraggle art I've seen yet. God, those eyes...

So, exactly how big were those giants (I forget now what they're called) to the humans?

A Fraggle is knee-high to an average 6-foot human (about 2 feet, roughly the size of a lawn garden gnome) and Doozers are not even waist height to a Fraggle (making them but a couple of inches tall). Given those parameters, it should stand to reason that the huge Gorgs should be twice the height of your average human as far as the show is concerned. But, in real-life, since the Gorgs are performed by two performers - one inside the giant costume skilled in mime and the actual Muppeteer off-set controlling the facial expressions by way of radio control devices worn over the hand, much like a conventional puppet - they're probably only physically wider than an average human due to the sheer size of the characters.

The song "I Can See a World of Harmony" shows the size difference well.

Most things Jim Henson are from a bygone era, where morals and decency remained. Nowadays, it's mainly about selling to make money, baring a few exceptions.

He also believed that it is unhealthy for children to never be afraid.

TherealRNO In reply to BadMillennial [2014-05-26 04:47:54 +0000 UTC]

Of course. We all have our strengths and are weaknesses (including our fears) and Jim, Walt, and other geniuses of childhood existed to ease some of those troubling times, but yet never shying away from the tough stuff (Bambi's mom and Mufasa regarding Disney & Sesame Street's "I'll Miss You, Mr. Hooper" episode and the recent "When Families Grieve" special or Fraggle Rock openly having the Fraggles routinely talk about death, as if it's a daily fact of life in their culture), so long as parents and educators properly talked to kids about these subjects, which a good chunk of today's adults don't seem to care about doing anymore, hence why this current generation largely goes without moral guidance.

That too. There are some exceptions (MLP: FiM, Gravity Falls, Wonder Over Yonder, current Mickey Mouse shorts, etc.).

TherealRNO In reply to BadMillennial [2014-05-27 04:17:11 +0000 UTC]

No. It is a great show. Beyond the sunshine-and-rainbow paint job, MLP: FiM is this generation's Powerpuff Girls, but like the Henson shows, had great writing, quality personalities, decent storytelling, and catchy songs.
