Honestly, I'm not sure who to root for here. On the one hand, if they're going to be THAT strict about the five-items-or-less policy, why place impulse-buy items right next to it? On the other, I don't think I want to make her mad by saying so.

I have been in lines where the customer was such a jerk in front of me, picking on the poor cashier because I think she was young... it would have been quite amusing for this to happen.

Stupid thing is that I used to work for Wal-Mart, and there would be people who would come through the "20 items or less" lane with like a hundred items, so I'd point to the sign, and politely ask them to choose a different lane ...until someone told my manager about that, and my manager told me that we can't do that. No matter how many items they may have, I had to ring them up.

I hate it when people do that. It's just the principle of it. Everyone seems to want to bend the rules as much as they can for a very minor personal gain. It's especially frustrating because I always end up waiting in line directly behind these jackoffs.

I work the express lane at the local grocers, 15 items or less.... and yet still people come through with cartloads.... sometimes I wish I could blow up like this. on the bright side it's a self-bagging isle so i get to have the pleasure of making them bag it themselves ^^

Man one time I was at a grocery store and these ladies had at least 50 cans of canned foods in the 10 items or less aisle... their excuse was that they thought it was 10 TYPES of items (and they had 10 types of canned food). Stupidest thing I ever heard.

Cashier, grocery store. I got ripped apart by management for freaking out on a customer about this. Two carts of meat and pet food isn't two items. It is individual pieces... not type of item.
