Yea, some people have never graduated from the straight Death Match mindset, playing anything objective based with them is virtually impossible. Β It's especially frustrating in missions where enemies never stop spawning until an objective is completed because these players will assume as long as they are killing bad guys they must be doing an awesome job.

On a (somewhat) serious note, the best time I ever had playing Counter-Strike was when I joined a clan. Games were FUN! And nobody wandered off in a firefight. (Or they didn't stay in the clan long.)

I go through the same problem in War Thunder all the time - every other player just looking for kills and I'm the only player who's trying to accomplish the mission objectives.

yep... pretty much how I felt when my entire team in overwatch was waddling back and forth in front of the door to the shrine where defenses were set up... meanwhile, trying to recomend a different approach, I used genji to crawl through the window and dance around the objective until we cleared it ._.

I literally just WON a game where this was happening, actually. Was playing as Reinhardt, was literally the only guy actually on the Payload and escorting it, enemy team was all over us at one point and I was the only one actually TRYING to break them out of their nest... somehow managed to. Barely saw anyone in my team until near the end and even then barely anyone was going near the payload, had to push that shit myself.Β I hate having to carry the team sometimes.

Every time. I still play Destiny and get the "how can you be good when you don't even have a 5.0 K/D" talk.....
K/D just shows how much you care about kills over the objective. I soloed a game on Rift when everyone on my team only got the kills. I picked up the spark and took it to their rift and got over 11k points, just on my score alone. I got messages from "suck my dick" to " git gud skrub" and what not. Yeah, the other team got 5x more kills than anyone on our team, but did you win with those kills? No.

happened to me with capturing the zones too. I am running around trying to capture the zones while my whole team is sitting somewhere near zone A shooting occasionally if someone happens to pass by..Β

Had a match JUST like this on Overwatch, fucking 2 Pharahs on my team duking it out in the air, missing like drunken pitchers a genji doing fuck knows but very little kills came up on screen, while I sit next to the payload (the healer)
and the other 2 piss around trying to take potshots at the enemy hiding in houses far behind us. Greeeat.

I know this game and its mindshare with pop culture are KILLING it right now, but I wonder what kind of long-term retention issues there may be when those wanting a team-based experience are overwhelmed by a sea of self-centered pricks who only want to play this new game, regardless of mode, like EVERY OTHER fucking shooter/PvP of the last 10 years, and how that affects the game's development moving forward (Activision/Blizzard like that $$$ y'all).Β
All of which is a shame, because playing Overwatch with a dedicated group/team is CRAZY STUPID FUN! More so than a bunch of dicks trying to Rambo shit in a jumbled mess.Β

Funny, cause 9/10 times I hear some shit like this in a chat during a match, it comes from a dude who get's himself killed while the team is actually busy doing their job but he get's asshurt over them not telepathically following his master unorthodox plan he could have put in the chat in the first place at the start of the game.
While you're at it, paint a hamster who drives a Tiger into a streetfight in WarThunder and then yells 'Russian Bias!' at the screen when everyone can pen him from less then 100 meters.
