I'm one of those crazy people that feels ripped off if a game irritates more than it entertains.GTA4 was pretty, but was shite to play.
SR2 was fun. Pure and simple.
(Wrote the script for this one ages ago. Didn't have time to draw it till now.)

Love reading this. I agree with the GTA vs SR opinion. GTA 4 is like life but SR 2 is escapism, but the SR series was just a crude GTA spinoff but now it has craved a nice knob-shaped niche in life. Like those people who appear twice in exposure camera era school pictures, it's just dicking around with the establishment of GTA, not trying to copy it.

The Row is great I loved the second I can't wait till I get the cash for 3.. but I'm torn caus I seen on Steam they anounced the 4th SR allready in production.
Put it this way SR2 got me to put own Skyrim

I felt the same way. GTA4 just feels like... life. SR2 just gives me the freedom to cause chaos beyond measure... AND I LOVE IT FOR THAT! SR3 does a good job of that as well, with more ways to fuck with people than ever before!

Felt pretty much the same way. Except there wasn't anything much great about GTA4 (for me) except for the driving (and little thumps pedestrians made). I love the reference in panel 4! LOL

Yeah I wanted GTAIV for the longest time when it came out back when I was still in High School. Then I see SR2, which btw I never played the first one. And honestly the simplicity of the game is beautiful ^^ I love everything about SR2 from the ridiculousness to the customization. The only things I didn't like about SR2 was the multiplayer and DLC. Which is probably what GTAIV only has anything close to compete with SR2 with. But hey SR2's single and co-op is good enough to easily overshadow those problems

And the characters are more, like sociable, I don't know... and SR 2 has that point of all-customizable and everything...

5 - I encountered this bug by jumping into the water. At least it propelled me further away from the pursuing FBI. Though I got blasted by a helicopter as soon as I landed.

And I forgot to add - Running around using the taser gun on people - priceless. Being pestered by a mobile phone going off pratically every ten seconds by boring NPC characters who want to do boring things - Evil, kill it with fire!

Givena choice between realism - real life is real enough thank you very much - depressing visuals with so much grey in them, yet another bland male lead from a company that clearly lacks the imagination and creative skill to create a female lead and a lack of fun.
Or a game so over the top when it comes to fun, with the never before seen addition of gender choice for a sandbox game, character creation, bright visuals that aren't depressing and tiresome and the eample that a game is meant to be fun, not the same tired nonsense that Rockstar have been churning out for over a decade, then I go with Saint's Row 2 every time.
I've had enough of Rockstar's constant boring male leads, dull stories and utter lack of fun. When I game, I want to have fun, not be falling asleep out of boredom.

I love the art style. Sants row 2 is by far the one of the glitchiest games i'v ever played but t's also one of the most fun.

Craziest character creation I've ever seen...
When the store clerk said you could make your character into a transvestite I thought he was joking...
turns out you should listen too store clerks...
The Soundtrack was alot of fun too...mass murder whilst listening to:
"Karma, Karma , karma karma karma chameleon..."
But the dialog was hilarious...was always different depending what voice you chose...

I agree with you GTA4 has better visuals and richer story, but SR2 is awesome 'cause you can do stuff you always wanted to do on GTA4, though I wish they add raping activity in the near future
I'm also a real sucker for games with massive character customization, SR2 is the most extensive on that are I've ever come to see yet

THANK YOU. I love games with good storylines; I really, really do. I am willing to put up with a lot of crap if the story is compelling enough -- or, hell, even just original enough. Case in point: Okage: Shadow King. The battle mechanics will make you want to scream and tear your hair out on a minute by minute basis, but I have played it more than once for the quirky characters and the crazy-genius story and all of the inventive little sidequests. To me, it's like being forced to read a brilliant novel that's been written in chickenscratch. It might not be fun to slog through, but goddamnit, it's worth it. (Similarly, I am willing to play a game that has had absolutely no effort of which to speak put into the storyline if it means that I get to tear people in half with gigantic claws of soul-rending doom and leave a trail of mutilated corpses in my bloody wake.)
GTA4? Yeah, not so much with the "compelling" or the "worth it" or the "original". Or even the mindless, bloody violence. I played the game for maybe half an hour before going "Fuck this shit!" and putting in SR2, and subsequently spent a glorious three hours killing the shit out of everyone who happened to be wearing red, yellow, or green.
I tried GTA4 again later, for old time's sake, and forced myself to play for an hour. It was painful. I couldn't indulge in a single ounce of fun without getting the cops all over my ass, couldn't walk for more than twenty steps without my idiot cousin calling me, couldn't figure out where they put the sandbox... er, you get the picture.
IN SHORT: YOU ARE AWESOME, THIS COMIC IS AWESOME, WHEN WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR BOX OF INTERNET WIN DELIVERED?

Both M.C and Carlos have problems with moving rival vehicles during the game. That poor poor Carlos-guy... looked like Ghastly Bespoke, only less hansome.

well this is completly true because I mainly hated in GTA4 that I could die in about 2 shots to the chest but in saints row 2 (and take my word for it the first sr sucked ass) you can take about 50 shots to the head and still beat the crap out of the person who called you a name!

I agree. Played GTA4, not impressed. I locve games with good stories but lets face it when you play a sandbox game you want to destroy shit. Plus the character customization and the rival gangs are awesome.

Ahhhh Saints Row 2. Just got that for Christmas this year and it IS a fun game, and so was it's predecessor. I never was into the Gangbanging-Rapper shite that it centers around. However, that made it the more fun to make a character that looked like a rocker who listens only to classical and heavy metal while everyone catered to Snoop Dogg or Aisha.
If anything, it's fun to mess around with the character creation menus, especially in the sequel (I can haz cockney-accented biker gang-banger that looks like Danzigs? HELLS YA!)
Also, customising your gang to look like Ninjas....is just win.
