This is just brilliant. That scene made the whole theater laugh, I was glad to see so many people had at least remembered to stay for the after-credits scene

Very nice.Β One of the better versions I have seen of him in a while.
I laughed when I saw him in the movie.Β It was kinda pointless though(we will have to wait and see on how this one plays out).Β People often think of that bad movie as The Howard the Duck.Β But he has been around for a long time in the Marvel U (early 70s as I recall).
Why do I think 'Lets get Dangerous' when I see this?

My guess is that we'll have Howard pop up as a supporting character in other Marvel films like Black Widdow did. Considering the baggage that godawful Lucas film dumped on him I think Marvel will want to build up his fanbase outside of the comics before giving him his own movie.

And don't forget Daredevil had a bad movie and MCU made us forget about that movie and Captain America had some bad movies and MCU's CA made us forget about them. Marvel can do Howard justice and we can accept a talking raccoon.

Do you think a MCU movie would work for Howard and make us forget about the 1986 film?

According to my mom, Howard the Duck was the first movie I ever saw in theaters, when I was a bit less than a year old.Β Apparently I was well behaved in the theater and I didn't fall asleep, so I am now convinced that I do not actually exist.Β SPOILER ALERT NEXT LINE:
So...what did Howard say to the collector at the end of the movie?Β When he popped up on screen everyone burst out laughing so I didn't get to hear his line.

heh, I'm pretty sure Laika was a girl dog though...I know the collector probably wants her in "mint" condition, but it would be HILARIOUS if Laika got the genetic and cybernetic treatment like Rocket.

He said: Why did you let him lick your face like that?
He then takes a sip from his drink and says (I think it was); Aah, that burns the throat.
I still have no idea why he was in Guardians of the Galaxy.

I never would have guessed, even in a million years, that we would see a Howard the Duck cameo.Β I laughed, but some people really got pissed off about it when he appeared.

Why? I just found it surreal and funny, but why would someone get angry at him making an appearance? It's just a cameo.

From what I could hear as everyone was leaving,Β a few people were expecting the post-credits scene to be some hint at one of the next Marvel movies, rather than this surprise cameo.

Well maybe his visual design set them off instead the designs from the comics or the poorly made film about Howard the Duck. But I didn't mind cause it brought an old character from the 70's in today's media. Hopefully, we not get a PG film that has DuckTits (woohoo).

Do you think they should do a Netflix Howard show by Marvel Studios? Marvel can improve on the movie just like they did with Daredevil and cash-in on Fox's Deadpool and Son of Zorn.

Thanatos500 In reply to JohnSpartan1982 [2016-11-13 15:17:44 +0000 UTC]
That Depends. For a Howard the Duck series, it needs to hold down what kind of mood it needs in the Marvel Cinematic universe. GotG was a fun slightly goofy film, while Daredevil was a top notch serious and horrifying show.

Howard's genre is comedy-adventure and the show can be a TV-MA comedy adventure show similar to the Deadpool movie with 4th wall breaking humor and have James Gunn who is a devoted fan of the comics write the show to be true to Gerber's works plus even the recent comics and even have guest stars like She-Hulk, Dr. Strange, Ringmaster (Who should be played by Sacha Baron Cohen) etc. and i can see Lea's 22 year old daughter Zoe for the role of Beverly.
Afterall Marvel is a crazy universe with aliens, talking raccoons with tree beings for friends, vampires, werewolves, gods, sorcery, monsters, guys who can shrink and grow etc.
They should also try horror with Werewolf by Night.

It can make people forget the George Lucas travesty and make people know who the REAL Howard is (the comic version).

How about a TV show for Netflix? it can make people forget about the lousy Lucas made film as Marvel Studios does better on their own than just licensing to other studios like in the past as the original Howard film was just a studio product and missed the point of the comics.
Audiences now can accept a talking raccoon

PantherFlint In reply to JohnSpartan1982 [2016-11-12 21:40:59 +0000 UTC]
Forget the fact that raccoons are infinitely cooler than ducks and Rocket was not a main character in his movie. Seriously, an entire show about a talking detective duck? for adults? It's gonna take itself way too seriously or not at all, either method is doomed to fail.

A comedy adventure show for adults be nice and it can make everyone forget the Lucas film just like Daredevil the show made everyone forget about the 2003 Fox film. Marvel knows how to make gold and even made everyone forget about the lousy Captain America 1990 and 1979 films with the new movies. Even the upcoming Punisher show will make everyone forget about the movies. I thought of it ever since Howard's cameo in Guardians.
It should be a cash in on Deadpool and take cues from Deadpool on being a 4th wall breaker and have good writers like James Gunn who is a big fan of the comics as he can do the show. It can make Howard cool again to make him recover from the lousy film plus at the beginning of the first episode he can explain his history in pop culture in comics with a brief history even how he appeared in Marvel stuff before the show plus his cameo in Guardians. Β The show can be Deadpool meets Sunny in Phildelphia and Son of Zorn as i can see Lea's daughter Zoe who is 23 years old to play the role of Beverly plus find someone talented to be She-Hulk and i can see Sacha Baron Cohen as Ringmaster.Β
Marvel Studios never fails you know even with their Netflix shows which made the characters feel so human to the audience even with good writers and directors.
