And that's exactly the kind of logic, that makes the '5-seconds-rule'.
In reality, it is not important, how long a toast lies on the floor, before you pick it up. The toast will always absorb the same amount of bacteria; no matter, if it lies there for seconds or hours. (There is a mythbusters episode about that, if you want to look it up..).
It is the same with the moondust.
It doesn't matter, how long you have been exposed to it. Your body will 'absorb' the dust and get ill.
The thing that actually matters is the amount of moondust. Well, Chell touched a lot of that stuff throughout the game.
