I've been using the Koi watercolor waterbrushes like Manapul's wife, I never knew they did that type of thing for inking too! I can't get a fine enough line with that brush so getting the difference sizes like you use would be helpful. I can't wait to get them and try them out=]

Wait... they make a brush pen thing that can actually get a slick line now? I... I have to try it. I LOVE my winsor newton series 7 finest sable #3, but if I had something that didn't require dipping and that could still get me that brush feel... I've gotta try it. Where can I get one and what's the company name?

Just so I'm clear with everyone.... so people don't possibly hate me later. The water brush is in no way shape or form a better or equal brush to let's say a Winsor Newton Series 7. Water brushes for one are synthetic haired brushes. With that said I've found it is a durable brush when it comes to ink, the points typically hold up but of course that depends on how you are with your brushes. It is an inexpensive brush so if the hairs fray at any point it's not like you'll have to drop $30 to replace it.
Important side note: This brush is just another weapon in your arsenal of tools, it will not make anyone a better artist. You will not suddenly be able to ink like It will save you some time since you don't have to dip or even clean the brush.
The one I'm using is the Pentel Aquash water brush. You should be able to pick them up at a craft store or cheapjoes.com.

Thanks, Jonathan. I'm going to look into giving it a try, but I really appreciate you letting me know that it's not on par with the good ol' Winsor Newton Series 7 finest sable (my favorite to ink with). I love experimenting with new tools, so we'll see how it goes once I get my hands on one. Thanks again for the input.

NO,NO,NO..... Don't do it man, you're CRAZY! HAHAHA.
Just kidding water brushes are great and the cool thing is if you work away from your normal workplace they come in handy Beats lugging around a bottle of ink and cup of water.

Wow! What kind of brush is it? Does the tip stay sharp? How does the ink stand up to erasing? Id love to try one out.

Hey Tim,
The brush is Pentels Aquash Water brush and they come in three different tip sizes (mine is fine, I think). I've used different brands that work well but I tend to like the feel of this one. There's also no mess when it come to filling ( I use a boiler maker to fill mine).
Amazingly it has stayed just as sharp as the day I bought it a few months ago. The ink flows nicely as well and you can fill it with whatever you prefer to use. I use DR. PH. Martins Black Star (Matte) inks. The does stand up just as well as the ink you would dip a brush in since the brush come empty and you fill it. Hell you can fill it with whisky and set your page on fire if you like
Why I use the ink I use:
For spotting my blacks (perfectly fine for line work too): Black Star Matte (matte finish with no light reflection) India Ink is best on paper, illustration board and canvas. Black Star Hicarb is best on acetate where density and line integrity are most important. Excellent in technical pens or calligraphy dip pens.
I like the Hicarb for line work. I think I just like the shine
Sorry for the long reply I'm avoiding work.

I switched over to Balck Star and it is the best ink on the market as far as I'm concerned! Pelikan is so inconsistent it's not even funny. Thanks for the specific info!
