I'm glad you did a HEX illustration. A friend of mine is starting a campaign soon... Is this for a book of adventure modules?

Lovely painting! I just maybe think the castle could have been slightly more visible and stood out more, maybe? Or is that the point: its hidden in the forest? Anyway, I love the river curving down especially.

Really nice piece again, Jon! Love the lighting and the really overgrown look of the jungle! The transparency of the waterfall is great in my eyes!

Such a beautiful glow to this, and great colour density variation all over - it really makes the jungle sing. la la la...

Brings to mind Robert E. Howard Conan tales. Specifically "Red Nails" and "Xuthal of the Dusk." Gorgeous.

So that's where they escaped to with their treasure. Templars seem to be the flavour of the month. Nicely done, bu the way, the overhang above the water is a lovely moment.

Since you have experience with Artrage and Painter, if you have time could you explain why you like to use both?

Sure - They both can do different things. For me ArtRage's oils are the best digital oil there is. However I have some custom brushes in Painter which I like to use too.
Both pieces of software can blend colours differently. I don't use Painter much these days it must be said, preferring ArtRage for most of what I used to use Painter for. However I still like what Painter does in some circumstances.
I have a couple of textured detail brushes in Painter which work really nicely so I chose to use them on this piece.

I love it! I think it's well worth the money they charge, and probably double that.

I have been working exclusively with Gimp, and I like it a lot... but it certainly has its limitations.
Thanks again for your explanation,
Peace.
