Thanks, maybe I will use it in the future. I thinking of turning this one into a painting.

Canvas or paper? I prefer paper because I think it gives me more control over the chemistry of the working surface, you know. Do you work on canvas, too?Β

I use canvas sometimes but mostly wood panel. I usually only use paper for my sketches. I like panels though because it has a smooth surface and allows for more control kind of like paper.

Dude, I used a door panel for the "Waves in a pool". It took me a year to make the paint the way I wanted, especially to make those ripples

I just looked at it. If it was masonite then yeah it can be hard to paint on, the surface is a bit slick. Cool piece though. I tried to paint on bathroom wall panel once, the kind that's meant to looks like wall tiles. Had the same problem on that it, was too slick. So I had to build lots of layers. This one: ...........and this one too:Β

It is so good to find somebody who went to the same struggle! But, man, your colors are way better than mine, specially for masonite. I donΒ΄t know which I like best, but IΒ΄m going with the Gorilla. Are they both fluorescent? Strontium Aluminate? Tell more about the stories behind, please, they are fascinating and complex, almost like a page of an underground punk magazine.Β

The one called Catharsis is fluorescent paint and has blacklights on it. I actually did a series of blacklight paintings. I wanted to use a surface like bathroom panels because the dirty connotations it has. You often see graffiti on bathroom walls at places like dive bars and live houses and such. I thought it was interesting to combine with my concept of cathartic writing and painting. Haha its hard to explain.

The gorilla one called Urban Vistas is inspired by a controversial thing happening around the towns and cities in my area. The "fracking" (which is where they shoot water into the ground to crack and capture pockets of of natural gas) is messing with the planets crust, and causing mini earthquakes as well as getting bad things in the water supply. I use bright colors to offset the fact that I often paint about serious/tragic issues (contradiction makes people think more). The gorilla represents the the weight/gravity of the issue.

Dude... Fracking is terrible. I also happen to be almost graduating in environmental engineering. I know a little bit about what happens to the water supply, specially during freezing conditions. Methane in the water is not good at all. It makes the Catharsis one look light and shiny.Β

Oh wow, than you understand it better I do. The controversy now is that the town I live in voted to ban fracking within the city limits and it caused a huge ruckus. But there's an even bigger ruckus now because the state government might overturn the ban because fracking is big business.

Do you know what concerns me the most, beyond the fracking thing? Us, environmental engineers, became a second class engineering... Our profession became soulless and emptied of purpose. I would go into a rant here, but, I think I would be raining on wet floor. Instead of becoming facilitators of a transition towards more efficient ways of production, we - environmental engineers - got used to the high paying jobs in the oil industry, neglected slavery trades in the electronic industry, overlooked electronic trash, not to mention nuclear waste or water preservation. Thus, IΒ΄m a happily painter and not a greedy heartless irresponsible motherfucker of an engineer who cares only with the depth of his pockets. Not everyone is like this, I know, but the ones I had an experience in working with are.Β

Sounds like you're really passionate about it. It's definitely one of the leading issues in my home state, especially the area I live in. Maybe it could be inspiration for your painting? My own work hasn't been as political this year as I got sick of all the political/social issues. I don't even read the news much lately. Political art is hard to do right though. Here on deviantart I think this guy's political art is the best (his other stuff is good too):Β

Political art is the most important and the "least valuable". I know a guy from Spain who is being shunned because of the paintings. Big oil, big pharma, big military industrial complex are controllers of what is and what is not to be considered art. Even the free-speech concept is gradually being changed in the name of something they call as democracy.

Thats...good? Haha I'm not sure how I feel about that actually. I wouldn't want my stuff to look exactly like another artists work. Hopefully I can still keep it fresh at least, even if its already popular.
