Description
Please use FULL VIEW28" x 22" Acrylic
This is a collaboration between my girlfriend and I
I tried to get the colors and quality to look like the original, but that is the problem with cameras and lighting, can't get it to look perfect. The original is more yellow and brighter, a warmer feeling to it and I hope that this image still gives a feeling of warmth
Thank you for checking out our painting

Thank you very much! Feel free to go there often That is the beauty of art, it's ability to take you places.
Well, let's see...always try to keep things in 3's that way you won't complicate things or muddy them up.
So say you have some grass. What makes green? Blue and Yellow, blue is a cold color and yellow is warm. Cold colors push things back and warm colors bring things forward, which adds depth.
So you can start off by painting some blue blades of grass, a kind of blue or blue green background for the shady colors, that will be your dark color.
Then you mix blue and yellow and make your green or just use any one of the factory made greens like, thalo green blue/yellow shade, sap green, or hooker green. This will be your medium color or main color.
Next is to create your highlight color. Which will be adding yellow to your medium color to create that vibrancy you are looking for. With adding more yellow and less green will make for a brighter contrast, even adding some white highlights will really make it pop.
Remember, the point of this is to layer, dark first and light last. Cold or dark colors push back while light colors bring it forward. Layer your colors, whichever color you decide to be dominant depends on what you are trying to do. Study nature and pictures to get a feel for it. With just those three colors; blue, green and yellow you keep it simple and it really adds contrast, vibrancy and depth. Finding the right ratio with your colors just takes practice and experimentation. I don't always get it right the first time, I have to get a feel for it.
Hope that helps and good luck with your art

thank you that was a huge help! grass and leaves are difficult for me because of the small details and depth, but i tried what you said and while i still need to work on it i am definitely going in the right direction now. i had been over-complicating things and i did look...muddy.
i've never taken any art classes which never bothered me. i just paint or draw what i see in my head or in front of me but avoiding things like leaves and grass. that has worked for a while but seriously limited the things i could do helpful hints like this have "opened new doors" thanks again

I haven't gone to school for art either, although I am planning on going in January. Most of what I learned is through experimentation or from picking up things here and there. One other thing to remember is sometimes less is more. Like for details. Too much detail can overwhelm a painting. You have to look at the painting as a whole and not just the detail of the area that you are painting. Step back and look at it, if you can't see the detail from a few feet away then there really isn't a point in doing it. You have to think about how far a person viewing your art will be. Keep things simple and later add detail if needed. You will get a feel for it after a while, just takes practice. Good luck painting and I'm glad I could help

this reminds me of a story in greek mythology. zeus disguised himself as a peasant on the street. during that time, if someone came to your home you were supposed to welcome them in and offer them your best wine and food. zeus went from home to home and everyone turned him away, until he got to one home, it was a couple and they welcomed him in and gave him their best wine and food. he revealed who he was after and granted them one wish. they told him that they wanted to be together forever, even after death. zeus granted them this wish, and made them into two beautiful tress that twisted together. they were forever intertwined together.

Thank you very much for the story I never knew that...or wait, maybe someone else told me that story too. It sounds familiar, hehe, I would have to look back at all the comments to see. I've heard people say it reminds them of Dr. Seuss and Narnia
rince Caspian. It's amazing how one painting can remind people of so many different things and here we just made it up out of our imagination not intending it to be any of those. I guess that is why so many like it. Thanks again
