Description
this week's theme: Core of fire
.............................................................................................
the PHOENIX ~ a fire-spirit in the shape of a great bird. It's cry is magic and very beautiful. The phenix bird is a great symbol of immortality, living up to 1000 years, wereafter it bursts into flames and is reborn from the aches.
In Russian mythology it is simply called firebird, on which the story of the famous ballet by Michail Fokin & Igor Stravinskji is based.
In the MARVEL comic X-MEN the character Jean Greys alter-ego is "Phoenix". The character gets taken over by it's phoenix-powers, burst into flame, runs amok and is reborn again many times (basically. I think - please correct any mistakes;; ).
In the Harry Potter-books, the wizard-headmaster Albus Dumbledores animal-companion is a phoenix called Fawkes. It's tears are healing and it's body is very strong.
In the anime Bayblade the bit-beast owned by Kai Hiwatari is also a phoenix, called Dranzer(?)..
..that's about everything I know about the phoenix.
OTL;;;
hope you like it ~

In Russian folklore this bird dies and reborn every year, and live in Irij (pagan variant of enen garden). Its songs heals sickness and remove blindness. It feathers glow in the dark and slowly transforms in to gold.

You're most welcome...
If you are into the esoteric symbolic of symbols, you should find, "The Secret Teachings of All Ages," by Manly P. Hall, a most enlightening read...

I LOVE the glow coming from the phoenix's head and all that fire and vibrant, burning colours!
It's truly awesome.

Remarkable work or art. I love the pose, it's so majestic. Great choice of colours too. Truly befits such a remarkable character in mythology.
Here's some more info on the phoenix. [link]

Oooh, shiny! Burn BURRRN!!!
Haha, you know about as much as most people know about phoenixes I guess. They are birds that burst into flames when they die and are reborn in the ashes. I think that's all most people know... some of course probably knows a lot more, but I sure don't!
Anyway, you did a great representation of the Firebird, very dramatic and pretty! I love the smoke behind it, like a billowing cloud from a volcano or something, cool!

YEAAARGH BUURRN
haha, yeah. and most people probably learned it all in mainstream movies and comics (at least I did, lol) XD That's bretty cool somehow Long live learing through culture!!! 8D
Thanks, sweety :3 I was unsure of how to make the smoke, but I guess it turned out kinda okay

Haha! Yes, I think that is how most of us learn what they are!
Yes, I think it turned out very nice! I understand you were unsure though... smoke is hard and I'm still kinda stalling with a painting of mine because I need to paint smoke clouds like that too...

ah, smoke is hard D: but I'm sure you can do it, so good luck and GO GO!!! ;3
oh, and. I learned most of my ~glorious~ smoke-skills from things like the Tintin-comic XD Looking at how others draw things sometimes helps when trying to understand how to draw something.. on the other hand, I don't know how good it is for progressing in your own art/skills, but uh, yeah .__.;;

Hahaha! I see! Now that I know your secret I migh need to copy your learning process!
I do that too actually, look at how other have done something and tries to use the same method kinda. Sometimes it works well sometime not so.
