IDW's team of Simon Furman and E. J. Su have been upgrading alt-modes to reflect the more modern times. This is how I would hope they would do Grimlock (and how I will imagine him in a fanfic I'm working on) I freehanded the pose from the book Dinosaurus, altering the right leg into something of a more IMO realistic pose. While I'm sure that BW's Transmetal Megatron could have been used as a model as well, I wanted to keep that 'boxy' G1 look. He is the only Dinobot who will probably stay his original species. I'm going to give the other Dinobots what I consider slightly fiercer forms.

I only wish that I had E J Su's mechanical knowledge, I might have been able to do more with all those 'wires'.
