Description
This picture I've been literally working on (on and off) for nearly two years. The idea comes directly from the "Knights of the Old Republic" video game itself. When your character (Revan) goes to the Jedi Academy on Dantooine and starts training to become a Jedi, you're able to explore the world. There is this beautiful spring (which I did absolutely no justice here
That idea lasted for about half a year. I really couldn't sketch anything I was happy with. Then I just simplified it down to it just being Revan. Even still, I could not come up with a pose for Revan that would cover the important parts, well at least the top part, I knew I wasn't going to have any problem covering the bottom half. But I wanted to use her lightsaber to do it. It was extremely difficult trying to line up "everything" perfectly. And even now it's not a perfect allignment. Which actually turned out better since it shouldn't be perfect.
Revan has become a very important character to me. If I was going to do a nude pic of her I wanted to do it right. Even the pic I did of Revan in her underwear was more lighthearted and fun than anything. I wanted this picture to be . . . "honest" (for want of a better word). If Revan were taking a moment to relax in a spring and sensed danger would she reach for her clothes first or her lightsaber?
This is only the second time I "painted" a background with Paint Shop without using the "pencil" tools. The only things I drew in the pic were Revan herself, the bit of plant life, and the rocks she's touching. The first background I paitned was in my Katara pic [link] and even then I used the "pencil" tool or a pre-shape to do the moon. The waterfall gave me the biggest problem, and I most certainly overdid it
Revan's pose took a very long time to come up with. And I cannot stress how much I relied on 's photos for reference, in particular this series featuring this model [link] which you can find in their "classical nudes" gallery. It wasn't until maybe three and half weeks ago that I finally drew what would become my final sketch (this one) and the pose itself doesn't come from any specific photo. I came up with it myself, but I could not have made Revan's body look like this without those photos, so much love to and the beautiful Carly Champagne
And is it just me or does Revan kinda look like Megan Fox? Not a bad thing at all, but totally unintentional.
And yes she is anatomically correct, so for now I have no plans in posting the lineart.

I really like it for a couple of reasons.
First, you added more muscle strength to her then the game did. I found that in KOTOR I and II the female models were too much like stick figures who wouldn't really last 5s in battle. In this picture she clearly is not the stereotypical female and clearly has a proportioned body, which I like.
Second, Your use of the Dantooine spring was good. I think you did an excellent job of using the background to add a time and place for this scene without shifting the focus away from Revan. So, excellent work on that.
Third, I think you beautifully depicted the feminine body well, and I don't see any hint of exploitation. She is clearly portrayed as a human being, and not some guy's play thing, who is not helpless or anything of the like.
Overall, excellent scene. I look forward to seeing more!

A beautiful, simple piece. Really good tones with Revan's muscle, really good curve, and I noticed the different shades on her body which was nice and radiant too. Her hairs great too, (I mean of course, how you drew it) but it could have been beter. I also love the way you drew and covered her breasts, it just kind of brings out her muscle tones and brings up a powerful and perky feel for the picture. The whole things does a good job of drawing attention onto Revan who is drawn near perfectly and not onto the background which could have been much, much better. Revan looks good but she's kind of cartoony, you should have given the waterfall that same kind of attention which you did to the rocks Revan is leaning on. Kind of a colored-lineart waterfall. The steam should have been alot more dense. More then that, even though Revan looks very, very good, her foot is placed very strangely. It kind of doesn't fit with the curve and muscle tone you set up on her body and legs, it doesn;t fit on her hips. it looks like both hips are kind of bent forward to fit where both feet are placed. And though you did a good job of concealing that, if you examine it for a while you realize that it's kind of weird. I mean her body's curved to her right but her leg is bent left but both her thighs are showing... and no human could possibly execute that.
What can I say for impact? It's a simple cartoon, it doesn't leave much emotional impact behind and I don't think you intended it to leave any impact. But it makes you kind of feel jelous depending on personality some women would want their muscle tone up, their curves more elegant, their build more powerful and their breasts more perky. Some people would dismiss it as a cartoon. Some would only see artistic value. Otherwise. Well... I guess I'm wrapped up here.

Damn that's fine. If only the actual game let us do that....... XD
But in all honesty, excellent work. I suppose the ladies would want a male version too......

Canonically Revan is a dude. But sure, the game is whatever you make it.

The author wanted female Revan to be the canon one. But Lucasarts stepped in and said it was the male one.

Oh, never heard that. Kinda funny to get a reply on a comment from almost 4 years ago. But as I sort of said then, Revan is for everything else than canon purposes who you choose him/her to be.

Wow! I still have "KOTOR", and I'd always envisioned Revan as a woman, too. Dantooine is a great setting, too, one of the most beautiful worlds in the game. And I agree, she's a woman of action, before or after she remembers something I can't spoil for those who haven't played it! She'd definitely get her lightsaber first! A beautiful and formidable image!

That's hot. But seriously, nice work - I also appreciate the increased muscle tone, one of the things that bothers me about many femRevan portrayals is that they make her out to be skinny and weak-looking...not so here. This is definitely a strong female character. The waterfall looks a little bit forceful, but that's a detail. I like the water effect and that was a very strategic use of her lightsaber. The positioning is excellent. Overall I'd definitely rate this as one of the best female Revan pieces I've seen on here.

Currently, it could also run under the tagline "Carth you perv!"
I could imaigne though, that Carth doesn't care anymore if he's going to die after seeing *his* Revan naked.
If I recall corrently, Carth and female-Revan were the love couple, after all.

My version of Revan's story has a love triangle between Revan, Carth, and Bastila

Well, I wholeheartedly support Bastila. The game really should have given the players the option of who to end up with instead of shuffling players into a romance.
But, it's Lucas Arts...what would you expect?
The artwork is very nice and the pose is especially stunning. My condolences for your difficulty on rendering the trio you initially wished to draw; I myself am getting into drawing and sympathize.

Outstanding work. Big fan (though only recently) of Bioware myself.
The only bit for me that stands out for crit is the left hand; specifically the thumb. The way the thumb curls over the lip of the rockface inline with the fingers makes it look like the hand is on back to front. The thumbnail should face the viewer and the side of the thumb should rest against the rockface.
Besides kudos to you for a fantastic piece of work.

JosephB222 In reply to MrGoggins [2010-07-05 22:47:44 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I'm not sure how I let that thumb get so far (in the picture's evolution) unnoticed. By the time I really saw how unnatural it looked I was almost done coloring everything. I didn't want to take the chance of messing it up at that point so just let it go. It did look normal in the original pencil sketch, I just must have messed up a little when I inked it. I have thought of correcting it a couple times. Someday, maybe I will
