Part III of the VoteAgainst series.I have a crazy fetish for the number 3 evidently. At any rate, this is probably the most personal of the three, being as it hits rather close to home.
Please remember that beyond all the political beliefs I personally hold, this series is meant to make you think for yourself and then voice your opinion to make things change. Especially among the younger generation voter turnout is at a crazy low percentage of the population. So many people hate the way things are going right now, but if we all vote then things will change.

Although this is nothing to do with my opinion on the actual subject, I think the
'They want you to believe, they want you silent'
is very strong propaganda thats just as bad as what Bush is doing with his campaigns. As you said, you want people to think for themselves. Do so by presenting the facts without the unnecessary emotional leverage of that sentence.
Otherwise, beautifully slick design. Gorgeous fonts and colour palette.

This is brilliant- nice, clear message. It's always annoys me how one religious view can be used for something affecting a wider range of people. There's just no way it can work for everybody. Ever.

If you disagree with gay marriage than preach it from your pulpit, deny marriage ceremonies to gays in your church, and make sure you don't become friends with any gay people along the way.

Personaly I think organized religion in general is fucked but I totally agree with this whole heartedly n.n! You should probably print this off and whore it around if you haven't already o.o...it is bold enough and has great composition so it would get attention for that alone and not just the great message behind it. Beautiful piece of work, +fav for you!

This hits close to home for me, too...
The image itsself has a great color scheme going on. I don't even generally like these colors, but they're done perfectly here, as everything matches and it's not too bland.
The different fonts is good, too, as it keeps it interesting. The only thing I don't so much like about the fonts is lack of consistency in capitalization. But that's just pickiness on my part, I believe.
I love it, though. I feel like this is something that should be hanging around my town.

I myself am a Christian, but I do believe that we live in a free country and that people should not be forced to live by the standards of any religion. I believe that people should be free to live how they wish, so long as it does not violate others' rights or cause any harm. I know I wouldn't want someone else forcing me to follow their religion, so it would be stupid to force mine upon someone else. This is supposed to be a free country and I'd like to keep it that way as much as possible.
Okay so now from a design point of view - I really like the color scheme here, colorful and eyecatching yet not obnoxious. I like your choice of font for "They want you to believe" and "They want you silent". However I think the "Tired of religious bigotry? Keep religion out of the white house..." text shouldn't overlap the image, I think it looks a little crowded that way. Overall, it looks very clean and professional. Good use of negative space. This definitely looks like something I'd see in public somewhere.

I'm all for relgion (Hey, believe in what you want, whether it's organized or something you made up...so long as you're happy and you don't try to kill/bother anyone with it...*thumbs up* GO PEOPLE!) Heck, I even read the Bible sometimes, because, well, it's interesting!
But relgion in the White House? *vomit*
NO! NO NO NO! NONONONONONONONO! I understand that things like "In God we trust" and such are part of the country's tradition, and that's fine and all. Yay.
But I do NOT want religion in my government. A religious president? Super. A president who tries to make religion into law or impose his/her relgions values on the people? Um...not so much.
So...I totally support this image and the concept and ideas behind it.

i'm all for keeping religion out of our politics. religion has already destroyed the world now it's on its way of destroying our country. the whole thing about same sex marriages corrupting the concept of "marriage".... BULLSH**. With all the divorces in the US going on "marriage" is ALREADY corrupted. Divorce was never a part of a "true" marriage. I say people should be able to marry who ever they want (as long as their human that is...) it's not hurting anyone. And religious people who want to stand and discriminate those who are what they call "different" or "sinners" should take a look in the mirror some time. Because they're not perfect. Ok, i'm rambling now... sorry...

Religion is the opiate of the masses - if only marx had realised that the masses are not one, but the masses are made up of hundreds of thousands of individuals, 6 billion to be more accurate. today, it would take a magician to argue that religion is much more than a narrowing of the mind, a set of rules which are more than just suggested to people, so that they might just keep out of trouble. the trouble is, in the age of modern technology, mass transport and multicultural societies, religions have met other religions, and the relationship between them is bitter.
i've studied a small amount of the koran recently, and have often read sections of the bible... the stuff is moving. it's really important to try to understand the motives behind so much of todays news. but perhaps the most important thing i've gleaned from it all is that religions were clearly not developed to live together. i'm not criticising the idea that cultures should mix. i personally consider myself a liberal believer. i have no passions for a specific race, religion, culture or gender- of course all humans are equal. but religions promote these passions for specific race, religion etc, and more importantly they brew distaste for other cultures. the koran really does state that muslims should attempt to convert other religions, that other beliefs are not correct, that it is not down to the opinion of the individual. it is one partcular sentence that some devout muslims take to mean that they should fight for the promotion of their religion, and this (mis)interpretation of the texts has resulted in much of the terrorist activity we've witnessed. (try sampling a little bit of exodus from the bible. i think most people would be surprised at its intensity)
but other than this particular interpretation of their beliefs, the muslim religion is a manuscript of peace and beauty. i wish the bush regime, and those christians who despise the arab world "because they're wrong" or whatever those bigoted half wits think, would make the effort to understand the religion they are leading their holy war against. I would love to see Bush's reaction if somehow i could prove to him that about 90% of the muslim world were ' better' people than him. i'm sure it can't be far off from the truth. Yes mr bush, every bomb you drop on the suffering iraqis is killing people whose lives are of equal importance to yours. they hold as much value - no more, no less. vote against religion

heck... I'm sure this is getting old but, holy crap. Yes. I agree. I adore the pic and love its message 9 trillion times more. And really I find this pic quite ironic... since yesterday I wrote a paper for American lit and mentioned how religion invades our "secular" government and denies people their basic rights... heh. The rejection of gay marriage has nothing to do with religious bigotry. It goes way beyond religion, and is far more complex and sensitive.

Well, please explain any reason you have why it should not be legal, if religious bigotry is not the core of the issue. I would be very interested in discovering that there is something about my self, short of moral convictions, that would make me ineligable for a marriage with the one I love.

Yes,
In all cultures, across the span of time ... both predating and postdating Jewish and Christian belief systems, marriage has been an institution used to show one's commitment and love towards another person. It is the start of a family unit that may or may not include having children. It just so happens that in today's world this instituion is also tied in with several monetary and social benifits that are denied to people who are not married, whether they are in a monogomous, continuous relationship or not.
I fail to see why this would not apply to two members of the same sex.
You still have not supported your attack on equal rights for homosexuals under the law. I look forward to hearing your arguments.
