Description
I guess "hind" was once a word used to describe a deer? Maybe it still is?Well here's this "hind". I figured in order to truly create the effect that this is an especially large and intimidating and otherwordly stag, the best route would be close attention to muscle tone, for which I consulted a picture depicting the muscle anatomy of an elk, and an elaborate exaggeration of the antlers. This was an easy drawing/ coloring job. One of the easiest.

The name "Hind" or "Elaphos" is exactly what it says. It was not a generic term for just any deer back then. The Ceryneian Hind is indeed a giant doe with antlers. A doe having antlers is rare, but it does occur in nature, usually as a result of hormone imbalances. Worshipers of Artemis considered an antlered doe to be sacred, similar to how some cultures find animals with Albinism and Polymelia to be holy. Some scholars also believe the Ceryneian Hind may have come from Greek expeditions into the Russian tundra, where explorers may have encountered reindeer. Unlike most cervids, female reindeer always have antlers.
Nice job by the way. She looks absolutely intimidating.
