Description Yup, that title is a pun on "Sitting on the Dock of a Bay"
THIS is the current work-in-progress update for this sketch's getting fully finished.
Also, it's motivation for people not to simply shout "TLDR!!" at this tutorial which walks you through blow for blow how to be able to color/shade like this yourself in Photoshop or a similar program. It's purposefully written to be thorough enough for complete beginners to follow, which means it's on the wordy side, but also that if you ARE knowledgeable already you can skim.
Hence, I wanted folks to have a look-see at if they want to bother checking that for updates as I finish the tutorial, and to again motivate them not to get inundated by the words and just give up.

Hope people can likewise enjoy this at the stage it is! ^^

This is a nice piece of work that certainly shows the growth of your skills and how you continue to expand and understand new elements that you have applied here. Although this a sketch that is being worked on still it does hold a rather good deal of beauty with what you've covered so far in the face. THe detail is certainly impressive and you've began to work with painted/cell shaded style that has a rather potent feel with what you've done so far. It looks like you have potentials with this approach and if you continue with it you could definitely make this piece have a rather nice charm and appearance to show how far you've come. Again, although it is just a WIP so far it does have the strength to become a lovely demonstration of just what talent you posses.

Thank ya thank ya!
I've long accepted that I likely will not reach the proficiency of others I try to emulate, however I've also learned to appreciate and take a respectful amount of pride in the skills I forge on my own through observation without anybody explaining it to me Now, to just get me to commit to giving my all to images more often, that's the trick!
I appreciate your continued appraisal of my progress.

Cool! It looks like it's rendered in 3D... I like your coloring dude Cant wait to see the final results of this...

Question though? What's "TLDR" ?

Joshels In reply to johnis1 [2012-02-18 09:43:30 +0000 UTC]

That's sort've what I was going for, I wish I could model and render well in 3D so I see if I can trick people into thinking I did
Thanks for liking it dude! I haven't felt like I've pushed myself to my current best for quite awhile, most of my latest submissions are either black & white sketches or I got lazy on the colors, nothing like how I used to dedicate to finishing a project. So this one will get finished!

"TLDR" means "Too-Long-Didn't-Read". It's been used and made popular amidst the common online culture nowadays where people read memes and comics for humor. If somebody types too much text for a dialogue bubble or caption the reader loses interest in reading the whole thing to get to the punchline, dismissing it with the comment "TLDR" and moving on to something more immediately amusing. But as for that tutorial, I've written it so that it's fully explained so even the most beginner Photoshop user can gradually figure it out. I don't want folks to get unmotivated just because it looks like too much reading.

Yeah Dude! It'll be great to see what it looks like in the finished version... I also wish that I could render things in 3D, I actually tried to make a 3D version of one of my game characters... but it kinda turned out badly :/ I think I'll just stick to pixal work for now, and for some reason Pixal work gives me a sense of Nostalgia to the old games I use to play

Wow, I really need to get in the times with my Internet slang and Memes thanks for clearing that up with me... Yeah I might take a look at that Tutorialmaybe learn a thing or two on how to color...

Later dude! And keep up the Great work!
