Or a piece of fur either.Was looking through a bunch of =kayona-kim 's stuff that had backed up on my watch-list, got me in the mood for drawing Sally (always down for that really
) and to try out a more rough and raw style. Well this certainly was that, I think it took me unacceptably long to make this, about 2 hours, but it was fun.Of course the message is simple. There's nothing wrong with taking a character you like and making them look smexy, but don't abuse 'em. Sal's a modest-enough 'gal, It's rediculous that some actually hate her 'cuz they think she's indecent. The only reason to say that, is too many furry-fans getting too enthusiastic with their fanart and make her out to be nothing but a sex-symbol. Same with poor Rouge (except she was originally designed with clevage...).

I agree with Sally. In my opinion, Sally's ability to fight and kick Robotnik butt as well as the guys has earned her the right to wear as much or as little clothing as she pleases. I do find it unfortunate that some artists make her torso more form-fitting to accentuate her chest -- I don't believe it's Sally's intention to show her figure off like that.

Really? I haven't been reading them for quite awhile, and they've always seemed tame from what I've seen. But now that you say that I find it interesting, that's silly. I suppose in an effort to 'develop' her character more they grew her hair out and made her more adult looking is their excuse. Still, there's a large percentage of the Sally fan-dom that feels it's necessary to sexualize this cartoon character. Which I can't fault them in their preferences or enthusiasm, but I do attribute the fact that Sally haters point and call her indecent to be largely their fault as otherwise by cannon she is in no way such.

true. plus when people call her indecent and/or a slut for showing her boobs, they aught to know that most of the time it's not showing anything, and when it IS showing something they should know that it's not Sally's fault for she's just a fictional character. they shouldn't blame Sally because it actually depends on the artist who draws her that way

I don't exactly know if she would say this. To me anyway, Sal's actions speak louder than her words. She doesn't need to say she will kick your ass, she will DO it.

But yeah, in this case think of her as lecturing some young boys who were looking a little too hard

Amen my brother! I absolutely hate when you type "Sally Acorn" into the search box, and 98% of the pictures that show up are border-line pornography. My little 8yr old brother loves Sally and some of the other characters out of SatAM and the classic "Archie" series... I hate to think about kids like him who innocently google her name, and wind up getting crap like that thrown into their face. Why do people have to be so frigg'n nasty?! It so totally ruins her character, and that's not who she is at all! She's a cartoon, and she was intended to be a character that kids can look up to... Some people just need to "grow up" if you know what I mean. 
And that's coming from a 20-some yr old person who still likes to draw/write about cartoon hedgehogs...

Seriously, it's like sometimes doing a search for her either gets you a boat-load of furry-porn or the nasty hate pictures complete with slitting her throat. And what do those hate pictures say in their description? "OmG, I hate Sally 'cuz she's a slut and so is anyone who likes her!"
So that's why I'm overjoyed to see that artists like Tazisan and Kayona Kim actually get the views to grace those search results as well. I'm gonna do my best to make sure I always make a case for her. Thanks for pretty much agreeing with my fustrations exactly on the money

i mean, imagine someone playing Sonic heroes and then claims to be a fan? wth?

they are all like "OMG AMY R SOO KAWAII SONIKKU <3 DEATH TO SALLY! (draws kill "art" of sally) ZOMFGOMFGROFLMAO!111" sooo fu***** annoying and predictable!
also, the archie comics used to ROCK! but now..... scourge, megaopolis, sally is stupid, eggman, dumb storyline,

I completely agree with you, people who never watched SatAM or read the earlier Archie comics simply don't understand what we see in these characters. Sadly, this is especially true with Sally. Like you said, they're kids of this generation who've only played games like "Sonic Adventure" and "Sonic Heroes" and watched "Sonic X" so all they know is that.
I gave this argument a long time ago in one of my earlier journals , people get used to one couple, they're simply not gonna be receptive to another one. Doesn't mean they wouldn't of liked them if they knew them first, but you love what you know.
Dimitri and Enerjak made their way into the main storyline now? That sucks, last I knew they were just some baddies in Knux's side-story that refused to die again and again.

actually....im 13 years old + i grew up with amy >_> but then i thought: Man.... sonic x really sucks!
so, i watched satAM and freaking LOVED IT! see? newer sonic fans CAN watch satam and like sally n'stuff!
how i began to like sonic (whole story). first... when i was 3 years old, i played sonic the hedgehog 3 on my genesis i got from my cousin. then, i started to like sonic a little bit less. (i accidentely broke my genesis)
but when i was 10, i started in a special class (i have concentration problems) with a guy named Simon.
he loved sonic and i said to him: "whoa, sonic. i havent heard that name in like, seven years!"
so, i asked my mom to buy sonic heroe. then i thought "amy? who the hell is amy?vector? charmy bee? big the cat? " (havent heard bout sonic in 7 years) then at the age of 12, i thought: damn, i'm tired of sonicx,big the cat, charmy bee, cream,eggman and amy trying to kill sonic, i just thought damn, sonic sux. then i watched satAM to see if it was better and OMG it WAS! now i love sonic like never before!

i have to import all my comics from amerika, that sucks. i cant get the older comics, only the new ones. that sucks even more.
but i did, however, get sonic the hedgehog: in your face! and sonic the hedgehog: brave new world... plus the first comics in a collection <_<
and im pretty smart i think.

Yup, it's amongst the few things that make paying for this site worth anything. You can customize the DA front-page to replace or have in addition to the "Recent", "Popular", "Daily D's", and "Prints" sections with basically search results for either the most popular or recent of a specified keyword. So daily, I see the latest art submitted in a couple of my favourite catagories, great way to find new artists to love and be inspired by.

Then you're one of the maturest and coolest 13 year olds I've met online anywhere 'cuz most don't wanna even entertain anything other than what they previously know. Kudos to you! I think the latest generation of youth in the US and other places worldwide are being more inclined towards anime and anything else out of Japan over older more traditional American cartoons, so they find trash like Sonic X just thrilling. Actually, that's unfair of me. I have never actually watched an episode of Sonic X, and you've kinda proved my generalization of "this generation of youth" to be false. Plus it's true I can't claim to know what it's like in other places in the world. But I still think that's uber-cool that you broke that trend and actually liked SatAM over having seen X for awhile.
Dude, you mean you only have the first Archie collection book-thingy right? Meaning you don't even have the "Mecha-Madness" mini-series? I'm gonna have to fix this >_> ... be expecting a note from me... I can't let you be missing the entirety of the Archie comics at its prime. 'Cause the early stuff was good, but it reads like a less-entertaining version of SatAM, and as you know the comic has gone to shit nowadays. But from like... issue 25 - 70 it had a golden age of awesomeness that was uniquely it's own. Set in a SatAM world, but way darker and badass. I definately gotta hook you up with a few issues scanned, some of the real good ones.
Oh and I believe Scourge did exist from the way early days of the Archie comic series, but he was just an evil version of Sonic from another dimension who was ultimately stupider than him. He had a whole crew of evil look-alikes of the freedom fighters, they posed as them, but Sonic and co. kicked their butts. He always was a minor character that occasionally popped up only to get whooped and disappear again. I can't believe they bothered to drag him back into existance.

i have proven you wrong? kinda! I think MOST kids/young people today do, like you say, watch anime and stick with what they're exposed to (n'stuff) BUT, some people (like me) actually give other things a try...like satAM and/or Sonic underground.

yes, scourge's previous form was evil-sonic/anti-sonic. until he touched the master emerald and became green, ugly, dumb(er) and magically got a leather jacket + glasses XD new shoes too.
