Description
Figured I'd do this just once, besides I got the random urge to do so anyways after making a recent addition to my game console collectionSo here's what my desk area looks like, cluttered at it's best, but genuinely awesome for a geek like me
That "Poke' Lamp", is a rectangular glass vase I filled with little miniatures of numerous Poke'mon with a transparent CD case on top to serve as a platform for the actual lamp, I'm proud of it's nerdy creativeness
That main moniter is a 22" Asus, honestly the best I've ever used or seen in it's class. Full 1980x1020, 1080p HD display, so concentrated to that size rather than a huge 30+ inch TV it's more than ideal for me being a single viewer. Successfully I have my PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 all hooked in and displaying beautifully from it at the switch of a button. The Wii however refuses to cooperate with my attempts to rig a way via alternate cables and adapters to get it to go into via HDMI... and the moniter doesn't have component or composite inputs -_-; Only draw-back I've found.
The little 15" guy over to the right though is for pushing my Thinkpad laptop out to via VGA so I can watch DVDs while gaming/computing on the main screen and/or connecting in the forementioned Wii or any other device that needs the older video inputs. Occasionally I'll drop my PC down to a VGA to it if I need to do something there while wanting to use the main screen for a console. Dual moniters ftw always!
I'm a trackball addict
The whole picture to the right is what I've dubbed "The Tower of Power" and is on the ground next to my desk. For awhile I was searching for the proper organizational/storage rack I could tuck away all my devices into so I didn't need to waste desk space spreading them out or try to actually stack them on the desk. Was so happy when I found that short metal rack! It's the bane of my mother's existence because of the "rat's nest" of cables but a dream for me as a techno geek because it gives me easy access to the back of my PC and game consoles so I can quickly change configurations or remove something temporarily to take to a friend's house, etc.
That PC is an HP Compact, very happy with it as I bought it off uBid a couple years ago for around $300 and the parts alone even by today's standards are still valued above that (most notable being the Blu-Ray drive with lightscribe etching and the 500 GB HD). Not the fastest rig, but can at least run any of the latest games at acceptable speeds if I turn down the visuals, so it'll keep satisfying my need for a computer until I save long-term for an uber sweet gaming machine
And I guess that wall of text is all I have to say about this... at least it's all I should say as it's incredible if you bothered to read it all as it is
