Description Full view is a must on this one!
A small section, about 1/4 the size of my thumbnail, of the screen of an iPOD. No crop. No modification. [LINK ] for a full-resolution crop.

Living in an RGB World:
The title and image have a lot of meaning to me. There is no question that we live in a digital world. We attend every aspect of our lives to what we see on TV and hear in our music. Reality itself has lost it's appeal. It's a pathology of materialism where what we cannot buy, we cannot enjoy. Everything else is insignifigant. Happiness no longer holds a solid definition. That is too simple for us because purity and simplicity are attributes of the weak. Instead, we create a world of chaos and complexity; one that never sheds a light on truth or passion, only objectivity and glamour. Where the self is more important than the neighbor, or the man crying for help across the street. We think we are happier because when we are too busy looking inward to ever look outward, how can we expect to notice the empty shells we are living in?

Nothing is perfect though. When you take the time to bend down and take a closer look, you see that it all isn't so complex and magical afterall. You see the flaws...all of the simple little building blocks holding it...our lives, together. Those building blocks have become no more real than a color. We can see it, but we can't touch it. We can't smell it. We can't taste it. And it, will certainly never reach out and touch us.

Let's lean in and see what is really making us happy. Maybe we can start to let go of all of this false security, and once again, learn to appreciate the real things in life. The beautiful things. The things with a real texture, a real odor, and a real taste. Let's appreciate the real world that we live in, and the real people that share it with us...not this RGB world.

Technical:
I don't have a macro lense. I used the inverse lense method to do this shot. 200mm lense on camera, inverted 28mm lense in front of the lense. This creates an ultra-super-duper-duper macro effect. That's the technical term for it at least. This is a full frame shot, it was not cropped or edited at all besides adding a frame. The whole frame covers an area about one quarter the size of my thumbnail. Again I'm really happy with how this shot came out...it is certainly my favorite of my recent submissions; I just wish I could put the full resolution image on here...it's pretty impressive

BTW the face in the photograph is from the 30 Seconds to Mars album cover...if anyone picked up on that

Wow, well I'm impressed. That technique thing was a great idea, and it obviously worked very well too. And I completely agree with you on the loss of reality thing. This world could do with a little more life.

Can't add anything to that comment of that ass Pete B. Everything he said just stick my name on the end. Love the buffy bit. I'm abig fan and remember the episode. fine stuff. I'm going to try that shit with the lens, too

Where to start on this one ....

First your politics and phillosophy are spot on bud. We live in the age of the constant upgrade and a lot of us know this, but are far to apathetic to jump off.

A great line from Buffy (I know the irony is not lost on me), The character Giles explains why he doesn't like computers and prefers to get his information from books.

Giles "It's the smell of computers I don't like"

Wierd Techno Pagan Librarian "But computers don't smell"

Giles "Exactly"

My point is I also think that we are to busy consuming to notice anyone else or indeed ourselves.

Secondly your camera technique for this image..... Wow bud. I'm so going to try that

Thirdly your image.... Fantastic. I really get what you were trying to do and show. Can you send me the full resolution image? petebeck@btinternet.com.

Fantastic stuff bud

Thank you!

Heh I love the line about the books. It's true though; there's just something about the smell of an old book.

Again, thanks!
Josh

The smell of paper full stop.

I have to admit I'm one of the apathetic ones. I can see whats wrong with the world, but I do little to provide an alternative.

anyhoo.... Thanks for emailing me the pic. It's fantastic the RGB pattern is really clear. The whole image reminds me of Warhol type pop-art.
