Description
I haven't submitted much street photography, by far my favorite to do, in a while, mainly because I have been too busy to do much in a while. Well to fill the void I'm going to add some of my favorite shots from the New York City snowstorm this past February. It was the biggest snowstorm in the history of New York City, and pretty much stopped the city in it's tracks. Very unexpected, very hard, very fast. I loved it!It gave me some great photo opportunities
I'll let you search for where the name comes from
Broadway, New York City, NY.
Oh! Full view is a must!

Hmm I'd say around the 20's or lower. Depends it isn't unfomfortably really to me. Could be a bit colder, could be a bit warmer That's New York for ya! Have fun there it's a wonderful place

I feel there is something missing,
it just lacks a focal point, or something

Thank you but street photography is not all "portraiture" on the street. It is the capture of a scene...life in a given place. The focal point is often a gathering of people or a group of individuals in combination with the environment. I would have to say there's definately a focal point here.

you're quite welcome! but, when i went to look up 'cold day, gay city' on a search engine, all it did was take me to your photo, so could you please tell me where the title is from, or did you make it up?

If you look at the photo closely you'll see that one of the newspaper vending boxes is titled "Gay City", which is just a New York City journal. So came the name "Cold Day, Gay City".

Great picture, Great name- probably better than calling it "The Voice of The Spirit of Broadway has One Way of being Open when We Bake Our Own Bread in the Metro, so Play The Game Today!" haha!
Ah, the poetry of the streets!

Heh it certainly did! It lost it's appeal pretty quick when you had to walk very far in the wind and step through all the big icey puddles. Luckily you don't have to walk too far, and the subway terminals are heated.
Thanks Tyler

I think it's a newspaper. I've never really looked at it to tell you the truth, hah. For some reason I doubt it means happy city...

Greay capture josh. I've never been to NY but I am familiar with the imagery from it and this looks so alien and surreal.
The whitness of the snow draws your eye to all the writing and advertising there is on the street.

Thank you. I really love this part of the city. It's north manhattan, and it's a wonderful neighborhood. Past or Present is of the same neighborhood. Also taken within that snowy period. Just a couple streets over from Central Park. It's an older part of town so it has a really great cultural appeal to me. Great place for some good street shots any time of the year.
