Taken at Valley Forge in Pennsylvania.

Two Hundred and Twenty-nine years ago George Washington and the Continental Army spent a cold, starving and ravaging winter in this very field after retreating from Philadelphia. After a winter of enjoying the luxuries of the city, paying little mind to the strategic importance of the region, the ignorant British Army packed up and headed back to New York, leaving Philadelphia unoccupied and open for the taking when Washington's exhausted army returned the following Spring. Today, we happily pic-nic and play here as we casually admire the history surrounding us.

I loved the contrast to this scene. This adorable little girl was so tiny, and everything else so big. She was flying a kite with her mother, but like with all children, it wasn't long before her attention went elsewhere.
