Description
National SecurityUnited States Federal Building. Denver, Colorado. USA
Surrounded and smalled by such a cavalier vision
Am I safe in a stronghold or trapped in a prison?
These monumental structures, in their powerful character, strike conflicting feelings in me. I feel awed and intimidated. In the US we build the walls up around us in interest of our national security...protection from "terrorists" and the dark "evils" of the world. Looking up at those walls though...you begin to wonder if we are really keeping something evil out, or trapping ourselves in, separating us from true peace and harmony. I certainly wonder...I think that we need the rest of the world very much. As beautiful as such national symbols are, they also prevent you from seeing what is beyond them.

As iconic as that is though, it is not only indicative of our government and all that it represents, but also of the reason and logic that permeates society's view of the classical era. Of course that is by intention, as a government uses that play of iconic knowledge of the structure to build trust in its institutions.

I really like this Josh - great perspective and composition. And yes, justice seems a bit overwhelming looked at this way.
