Description Between the lines of demand and supply
I've found a place I like to hide
It's not laced with lights and strings
Or flashy ads and shiny things
It's somewhat coarse, I will admit
Quite aged and sated with grime and grit
It shows the years, like me and you
But what it shows is all quite true
It doesn't promise me deals and glee
Or that missing thing that will set me free
As I come and go it remains the same
I suppose it feels no need to change
It is what it is, and it's nothing more
A place to rest, and escape the roar
Of traffic lights and business deals
And wars and hate and oil spills
It's simply perfect, whether I'm blithe or blue
I'm always welcomed, and so are you
To this modest niche of bricks and vines
My little place between the lines

- Josh

Great words Josh. I can't see the connection between the image and the poem. But then it might just be me feeling very literal tonight.

Thank you. I can certainly understand that, it's more of a personal feeling than an obvious idea. I saw this little place up on the roof that seemed worlds apart in look from the more visible sides of the buildings and shops. The old wooden ladder seemed to fit right in with the worn brick walls, and I could imagine it being a little place that if I lived in the building, I would like to go to escape all the busy flashy clutter of the world and just stare up at the sky and relax. I think the poem came to me after I decided to call it Places Between the Lines. At first it just came from my noticing that most of the scene is made up of straight lines, but then the idea of it being a little place between the "lines" of pretty building faces and shops and homes, a place to slip through it all and escape the facade for a while. Maybe you can see a little of what I feel when I see it now, or maybe it's just a me thing

Thanks again. Hope you are well!
