Absolutely. I've really had no similar experiences to yours...perhaps the culture is different in the places that you've experienced. Fundamentally, as has been affirmed from my own experience, Buddhism is about inner piece and external tolerance. Most Buddhists that I've interacted with appreciate 'otherness,' or those whose lifestyles are different than theirs. Much less about the scrutiny of how and what others do. Interesting to hear though.

Yeah I know that I practiced martial arts of many sorts with Buddhist monks for about 6 years. They didn't mind photography in general, they just weren't all too keen on having their own pictures taken.
