Okay, admittedly, I don't follow the MLP series. HOWEVER, one of my best friends does, and has been bugging me for a while to at least give the EQG movies a shot.So. After finally watching both EQG movies, I figured, "Hmm...this could be a fun project to do..."
And that's how this little animation came about.

I HAVE hit my head hard before, but I fail to see the correlation between that and animation......
Anyway, it's VERY time consuming work, but it also can get taxing sometimes (at least mentally). Don't be surprised to hit burnout someday. It happens to everyone.Β
Financial support...well, I was fortunate enough to have parents who got me to invest in some property fairly early on, so passive income is a thing. Video editing was my first job, so, you could say I got into an art-related profession quite early--it was pretty low on the socio-economic ladder, though.Β
Truth of the matter is that trying to hold a full-time career in a very specific art-related field is actually quite difficult, so yeah, if you're just starting out, and you've got a full-time day job (one that you don't hate) that's got nothing to do with your artistic capabilities, you may as well hang on to it for the sake of financial stability--until you REALLY decide to try and break into that specific art-related field for real. On the other hand, if you have the opportunity to get into an art-related profession right out of the gate, yeah, go for it.
Still, remember that the reason most artists do what they do is not necessarily because it's financially viable, but because they love doing it.

this looks amazingly smooth, and frame by frame draw, what software did you use?

The animation was done in Flash, compiled/color-correctedΒ in AfterEffects, and exported as a .gif with Photoshop.
