Erm.. it depends really. Mario and Sonic took about 12-15 hours. But it doesn't really matter right now how long it takes. Speed comes the more you do it

If you go onto the Donkey Kong video (link in description on donkey kong painting). Its done with chalk brushes and line brushes that produce a random pattern that looks like hair.

Ah its just a bunch I have collected over time. You should do studies etc and just look up brushes

I couldn't tell you. I think it was just the standard photoshop brushes to be honest

Brushes don't really make much of a difference :S... I use one brush fore 80% of my paintings and the rest is for textures and edge control etc. ... here the brushes I use. [link]
