I was traveling through a protected area of Mandarin Island, the largest of the Orange Isle Archipelago. This reserve had only been set up 5 years prior and I had been asked by the owners to come and view the park for myself. They eventually wanted to convert it to a 'Safari Zone' location but need 10 years of viable breeding to be allowed to open it up to the public. One of their new additions was a large bull Rhydon that had been slowly introduced to their Rhyhorn population.
Without a bull, they tend to slowly migrate, often grazing on farmland and occasionally coming in contact with humans. Rhydon are extremely territorial and usually stick to one dedicated area for many years which means the Rhyhorn stay close for their own protection from predators.
As I rolled over the next hill, I saw him, casually strolling through the long grass. I decided to get a closer look. I crawled through the grass, making sure to keep downwind so he didn't smell me. He was still young and his horn wasn't yet at its full length, but by the looks of it, it had already seen some action.
