Very nice. I never really noticed it till a friend brought it up, but besides their typing and being based off of rocks, Graveler and Golem look NOTHING alike in the least. How the heck does it go from a rock monster with 4 arms to a dinosaur-like creature emerging from a boulder(which btw is way different rock material than Graveler's), and why does it lose 2 of its arms?
This makes a lot more sense, really. If Graveler evolved into the final form demonstrated in the top row, and Golem was either just a standalone Pokemon, or was part of it's own 3 stage evolution chain. It'd be a lot better overall. Obviously, Nintendo or Game Freak won't change it any longer now, but it'd be better if it was a thing from the get-go.

Believe me, gen 1 had way too many Pokemon of that repeated typing, lol...the Geodude line, Onix, the Rhydon line...and now a mini-Golem line too...too many OHKOs by Surf or Razor Leaf, lmao.

Yup, lmfao. I just go along with it anyway because it's freaking Pokemon, but if I could go back to the past and change some Pokemon I sure as hell would.
The ones from gen 2 onwards tend to make sense, but some of the gen 1 ones really don't...
Golem we already tackled. Dragonair to Dragonite...why...at least leave the color the same, I like blue a lot more than orange. Pidgeot...I used to think it was cool till I realized it's just a bigger Pidgeotto with a mullet, lmao. Mega Pidgeot is what regular Pidgeot should've already been, it's MUCH better. The Dewgong line...it looks cool but a bit too plain. I wish they at least gave it a huge horn to make it look more like a magical narwhal than just a tiny one that barely makes a difference in the design. And so on and so forth.
I love gen 1, don't get me wrong, but...some of the designs are a bit...boring or nonsensical, lol.

I don't blame you. One of the best designs from Gen 2 is Feraligatr in terms of consistency in the evolutionary line.

I was just thinking how Geodude, Graveller, and Golem don’t really look much alike enough to be related. Geodude and Graveller a maybe but Golem, as much as I love him, doesn’t seem to fit.

I mean Geodude to Graveler makes sense, as Geodude is literally just a rock with arms, and Graveler actually looks somewhat decent. Otherwise, Geodude's evolution would just literally be a bigger rock with arms...which would be unbelievably lame. I kind of hate Geodude's design before evolving, really. Just a rock with arms...too unrealistic to be a real creature or animal, but too mundane to exist in a fantasy world.
I agree with you on the Golem, though...it just doesn't fit in, lol.

Yeah, Golem was one of the weirder shifts, along with the Dragonite Chain and a few others. Kind of interesting in a way (a few too many Pokemon were just "like the first one, but bigger- Muk/Grimer, Krabby/Kingler, etc.), but... why did Golem lose two of the arms if he was an evolution of Graveler, y'know?

The geodude -> graveller -> golem lineage was one of absolute favorites as a kid. 9 year old me would lose his mind if he could see this. Shame it's not official concept art.
