I was travelling with a desert response team that had been called out after a couple had gone missing in the area. They believed a Pokemon might be at fault so asked me to come along.

After a few hours, we heard the cry of one of the rescuers Pidgeotto. It had spotted something over the next ridge. As we made our way toward the bird, I began to notice several holes dug into the sides of the sandy cliffs. The further we went the more prominent the holes became until they were almost honeycombing the sides of the path.

Suddenly we heard a voice, someone was calling out to us. As we rounded the corner we came to the mouth of a cave that had been covered by rocks. From out of a hole we could see a woman waving her arm, trying to get our attention.

As the team got to work it, dawned on me what dug the holes and what probably caused the landslide! As if it read my mind I suddenly saw a large Sandslash emerge from one of the holes. It watched as we dug into the rubble and wandered over to the mouth of the cave. It sniffed at the large pile of sand and rocks and without warning, began furiously digging. Its claws moved at such speed an enormous cloud of dust was flung about 10 feet behind it. Before long the small scaley rodent had broken through. Light spilt into the cave to find both the hikers alive, if not a little worse for wear.

The Sandslash backed up, looked us up and down, rolled into a ball and disappeared into one of the holes. It was the most unusual thing I had ever seen. I theorised that the Sandslash simply saw us digging and its competitive instincts kicked in, but I still like to think that it simply wanted to help.
