I had a call from a Cinnabar Island ranger who said there had been reports of a mysterious fire type Pokemon in the area.

I was making my way down a, particularly steep slope when I heard a distant call. It was like a growling yelp that echoed off the sandstone walls. I knew that I would need to be careful, fire types were notoriously aggressive to humans in the wild.

Suddenly, a large Charmeleon trotted into view. Its blazing tail swishing from side to side as its jaws snapped in the air.

As it turned its back to me, I grabbed an Ultra Ball from my pack and I stepped out from my hiding place. The Charmeleon spun around, locking eyes with me as it let out a deep snarl. It ducked down, aligning its body and began to stalk toward me.

At that moment I saw an opportunity and through some kind of muscle memory, I tapped into my instincts as a young trainer, arched my back, and flung the ball with all my might. The ball curled in the air and whipped into the side of the creature, snapping open. In a bright flash, the Charmeleon was reduced to light and absorbed into the ball.

It landed in the sand with a small bounce. The machine twitched, once, twice, and finally, the 'secure' light turned on, it was caught!
