Description
Ok, here's my Hellequin mask tutorial, I'm going to replace it, before it was way to out of place, now it's more organized and easier to follow, I hope this is helpful, and if there's any questions, don't hesitate to askRelated content

Hello!Β
I was just wondering, did u put the plaster cloth directly on top of the base mask? Did it stick when you tried to separate it? Also, when you added the spikes to the top, did u add them when the mask was dry or did u need to wet the edges of the mask again?

Hello!
And yes, I did put the plaster cloth directly on top of the base mask, yes it did stick nicely and separating it is very easy and it comes the whole piece of just like in the pic, and I added the spikes when it was dry, it wasn't a 100% dried tho, I did it right after separating it from the base... it was dry but it was still cold.
Did that help?

Oh! And one more thing, the putty seems to slip when I place it on the plaster wrap mask? Is that normal?

:surprised: No it's not! hmmmm... did you let it dry an entire day?... also, if you are working in a wet area it could MAYBE do that...

Hmm...I thought that it completely dried... I guess I'll leave it longer to dry! I'll try it again in the morning >w<
Thanks again!

Excuse me.. What is 'Primer' and 'putty'?
π: 0 β©: 1
Josumi-kun In reply to Lumina-Kristine [2014-01-26 20:51:43 +0000 UTC]
Sure thing!
Primer is a gray paint from a can spray, it's used to blend/smooth and object or even sand paper it, it also helps the paint you'll use over it to stay/resist and wont allow it to peel off or get scratched so easily, and when it dries Β it looks as if it was rubber.

And the "putty" is actually wall sealer. www.homedepot.com/catalog/prod⦠(the small one, not the bucket)
I got both of them at home depot.
Hope this was helpful, feel free to ask for anything else, and good luck!

When you say things like "putty" do you remember the actual materials you used?

Josumi-kun In reply to Moroxc [2013-04-11 00:09:48 +0000 UTC]
Of course, when I said "putty", I meant wall sealer [link]

I made plague doctor masks myself but not with the same material. And I am quite a beginner at sewing. Did you sew the costume yourself?

Josumi-kun In reply to Attaora [2013-01-17 22:40:40 +0000 UTC]
Not the whole dress, I did fix it thou it had very annoying mistakes...

Attaora In reply to Josumi-kun [2013-01-18 02:49:55 +0000 UTC]
I have no doubt it's been very difficult. Yet the reseult is stunning. How much did it cost for the fabric?
π: 0 β©: 1
Josumi-kun In reply to Attaora [2013-01-18 17:08:25 +0000 UTC]
hmm... hard to say, considering the fixing and all... ... I can't say for sure since I only paid when most of it was done, but considering the shiny fabric and the purple lycra I'd say $60 or more, I could't find it anywhere else so I had to deal with it, plus it was allot of it...

oh btw, I think you'll have better chances and more options if you're from U.S or somewhere else, here in P.R, there aren't many options for this sort of thing...

What was the material that you originally drew on?

Josumi-kun In reply to GoMagikarp [2012-12-30 04:04:42 +0000 UTC]
It's just one of those cheep masks that come in a little plastic bag which you find in any costume store

The process shown here is 70% similar to the one I used when I made a Malfatto mask (About a year ago). Great minds think alike.
