Description Today I made a thing.

I haven't modelled in forever, and I've never been very good at it, so please don't judge the model as an individual piece of art! I really just wanted something for referencing angles on antlers. It was a fun learning experience

What is this sorcery, and where can I get it!

The model was made in Autodesk Maya! You can get a 30-day trial from their website. I'm pretty sure after that purchasing the software is pretty pricey though I think Blender (?) is a free alternative- kind of like Gimp is to Photoshop.

Thanks Β  I'll have to try them out, mostly just for antlers.

A good reason to learn 3d modeling... or take up scuplture. Β Not sure which one would be better.

I would think both would be helpful in different ways! My guess is that 3D models are easier to make, but sculpture is so much easier to reference and manipulate. Something about having a tactile reference....

Not so great for fat fingers and fine details though, haha

And not having to wait for the computer to process the request.

Haha, that's why you invest in some sculpting tools so you're not dependent on fingers for fine details!

Yisssss, this is exactly what I plan on doing when Ralin's antlers get upgraded!

It's a bit much for one image, but soooo nice to have as a character reference! Can't wait to see what you do with Ralin!

Ugh definitely, I've been toying with the notion ever since I remembered that I hated antler perspective (read: joined fawnlings xD), but once Ralin's antlers get complicated I think it'll be time. I know I've definitely cocked them up even in his more simple state at the moment xDDD
