When Professor Xavier's old friend, now calling himself Magneto, started trying to take over the world, he created a team that operated out of his school called the X-Men. One of the first students to enlist was a 15 year old by the name of Scott Summers, an orphan who lost his parents and older brother in a boating accident when he was a child. Scott had optic blasts that came out of his eyes constantly, the only thing that could help it are his ruby glasses. Scott joined the team hoping to help make up for the loss of his family, as he felt at fault for not being able to control his powers, and adopted the code name "Cyclops". As the team grew, so did Scott, learning quickly how to be a leader of and on the field. The X-Men would constantly fight Magneto and his "Brotherhood of Mutants", a cult like group attempting to take over the world and make mutants the supreme race. Some of Scott's classmates would join the team including a 15 year old girl who Scott had a massive crush on named, Elaine Grey who called herself "Marvel Girl" for a short time, but preferred to go by Jean.

Scott will go on to have an on and off relationship with Jean Grey and become a good leader of the X-Men.
