Description
Scott has had a tough life to deal with. It started to take a turn when he was on a family vacation with his parents, Christopher and Katherine, and his brother, Alex. Their plane was caught by an alien craft and ripped in half with many passengers being taken, including Christopher. The other half of the plane fell to the ground resulting in many injuries and deaths, including Katherine, but Scott and Alex made it out alive, though Scott took a heavy blow to his head, putting him in a coma. With his dad gone, his mom dead, and brother in a coma, Alex was put into foster care and eventually adopted by a family. Alex didn't want to go, but he had little choice in the matter. Scott wouldn't wake up and discover this fact until two years later. All alone in the world, Scott was forced to grow up fast. Scott's mutation manifested when he was 17 and being beat up by two older, tougher boys. His head was pounding and his eyes were burning through the whole ordeal until they finally let loose red energy that blasted away one of the boys, causing them both to run away. With no way to look at the world without damaging it, Scott was forced to learn how to get around without seeing.

Life for Scott would get better when he was visited by Charles Xavier, the headmaster of The Xavier Institute, who came to help people like him, young mutants in need. Charles revealed his own power by speaking to Scott in his mind and promised to help him adjust to his abilities. Scott went with Charles to the institute where they tested Scott's optic blasts and through trial and error found a way to contain it with a specialized set of treated ruby quartz glasses. The lenses would dissipate the energy, letting Scott go out in public once again with the ability to see. Scott would stay at the Institute to learn and even help out with a project that Charles was putting together. In his younger days, Charles helped lead a group of mutants to safety and stop anti-mutant plots, but that was a long time ago and now Charles wanted to do more than help mutants, he wanted to make sure that there could be a modern team with the same mission of mutant rescue and stopping sinister plans by mutants and humans to create further division between the two. This group would be known as the X-Men, named after the X-Gene, which was discovered in mid-1800s by Nathaniel Essex.

During Scott's time at the Institute, he would meet Jean Grey and fell in love with her. They seemed like a perfect match and would help each other live better lives. Scott was getting mental treatment from Jean for past trauma and Jean was learning to become more social since her powers made her a bit more unwilling to go out into areas filled with large groups of people because she would hear all their thoughts. Scott would also learn to befriend his other teammates, Beast, Angel, and Iceman. Scott would learn much from Hank McCoy's classes, learn some good teamwork in the danger room with Warren Worthington, and have some fun target practice with ice constructs that Bobby Drake made, Bobby also enjoyed watching Scott blast them too. This group of mutants came together as an effective, covert team of mutants.

When Scott was 25, he would be visited by his dad, Christopher, going by Corsair. After he was abducted, he spent years trying to get back to Earth. But he'd been thrown into intergalactic struggles, one after the other, and the only way to survive was to become something of a space pirate with the renegade group, The Starjammers. Christopher became their leader, Corsair, and had come close to getting to Earth in the past only to have it thwarted by his enemies. When he finally did, Christopher came back to learn that much more time passed on Earth than it did in space. Christopher's wife was dead and his boys were already adults. There was nothing he could do to get that time back, but he'd try to make up for it. Unfortunately, Christopher couldn't keep this promise as his enemies found him on Earth and almost blasted the father and son to kingdom come. The Starjammers came and forced their enemies into retreat, but they would come back. Christopher wouldn't stop having his alien enemies coming after him until they were defeated, imprisoned, or killed. Christopher had to bid farewell to Scott and he'd have to do the same for Alex when he saw him. Scott wished his father good luck and said farewell.

In the present, Scott leads the X-Men as Cyclops and is a bit resistant to change, but will like the new costumes Jubilee and Forge come up with for a new incarnation of the X-Men, one that is less covert and ready to come out into the light.

Scott's Mutation: Scott's brain produces neuro-plasma energy instead of neuro-electricity and this goes throughout his body and exits through his eyes in the form of a never ending red plasma blast. Due to the change in body chemistry, Scott is able to absorb radiation more than an average human can and has limited radiation protection.
