Bobby Drake led a very normal life with his parents and brother and living in a great house in Boston. Though things would change to a large degree when the family took a trip to a snowy mountain for a family vacation of snow boarding and skiing. Bobby would take a restricted trail and get lost on one of the coldest nights he'd ever experienced. Things seemed bleak as Bobby was freezing to death, but he suddenly felt like the cold didn't bother him anymore. He thought hypothermia set in, but Bobby was too tired to care and fell asleep in the snow. When morning came, rescue teams were sent out to find Bobby and they miraculously found him safe and sound, though his clothes somehow froze and broke to pieces as they became brittle. No one could figure it out and the Drakes returned home hours later. On the drive back Bobby started seeing his breath and saw frost form on his fingers. Bobby feared that he might be a mutant and tried his best to hide it, although fear and stress would cause his powers to spiral out of control and one anxiety filled moment caused him to reveal his powers to his family as his entire body became ice. Bobby would hide in his basement as he couldn't control the cold he was unleashing. His parents seemed to care but Bobby thought they were ashamed of what he was and his brother, Ronny, couldn't even look him in the eye. This went on for weeks until the Drakes received a visit from an Institute Headmaster known as Charles Xavier. Bobby would come up from the basement and Charles would show that he was quite capable of controlling the cold with some guidance. Bobby would even be guided to turn back to his flesh and blood self. The Drake parents did want Bobby to get better, though their definition of it might have been different from what Charles was offering, so they let Bobby attend the Institute.

Bobby learned what he was truly capable of with controlling the temperature and also creating ice constructs like slides and walls. Bobby would also discover that Charles was planning to create a secret team of covert mutants that would stop human or mutant plans to cause strife and further division between humans and mutants, named the X-Men. Hank McCoy and Warren Worthington III were the first two candidates and Bobby wanted to join in as well. Charles at first forbid it, but Bobby really wanted to join so he would strive to prove himself in the Danger Room. After a level 5 test, Bobby came out on top and proved to Charles that he was ready for the field. Together the trio went on spying missions, strictly no violence, since was Bobby was still in his teens and the only reason he was on missions was because of his Omega level mutant abilities. The X-Men team would get bigger with the addition of Scott and Jean and the team's capabilities of what missions they could handle greatly expanded into direct combat. To keep their identities a secret and make sure that their enemies couldn't find out who they were or where they lived, they wore masks, visors, and any other manner of concealment, as well as having codenames like Cyclops, Angel, Iceman and Beast (since all others suggested like Muscle, Bodybuilder, or Strong/Smart were lame). Their first full mission as a team took some effort to make them a team but Jean was able to mindlink everyone together for coordinated and effective team attacks and the X-Men emerged victorious.

In the present, Bobby is still a student at the Xavier Institute, mastering more aspects of his powers and also trying to major in marine biology. Bobby also has a big social media presence as he livestreams the battles he takes part in, whether solo or working with Spider-Man. The X-Men have forbid him from filming their missions after Bobby put together a gag reel of mission mess ups. When the Sentinels are unleashed upon the world, Iceman and the X-Men have to stop the gargantuan robots and those who control them as well as the Brotherhood of Mutants. Jubilee wanted to give Iceman a better costume and Bobby was game, but he'd get to control the colors. 12 suit pitches and Iceman got his new uniform.

Bobby's Mutation: Thermokinesis - Lowering his body temp and projecting cold out from his body. Cryokinesis - Generating and manipulating the ice to form virtually any shape that Iceman can think of. Organic Ice Form - Bobby can turn his entire body from flesh, blood, bone, and hair into pure ice and change back anytime he desires. Limited Hydrokenisis - Bobby is still learning but with the use of his ice powers, he can control the flow of water to a certain degree.

- Bobby would never admit it but if he was offered a place in the Avengers, he might take it.

- Bobby once threw a crazy party at the Institute and it got out of control when Stacy X arrived.

- Bobby likes building Lego versions of past battles he's been a part of.
