With the rumors going around that Deathla from the upcoming Godzilla: 3D to the Max movie will just be a recolored Hedorah the Smog Monster, I got to wondering how the big G might react to hearing that the only guy he killed faster than Zilla in Final Wars was going to be the headliner for his big comeback movie...Monsters from: Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1974) and Godzilla vs Hedorah (1971)

also, deathla has been scrapped for the movie. it will be in the Gamera movie that's also comming out. Godzilla 2014 is only in the beginning stages.

I love Hedorah, but I have to admit, I'm a little nervous of how Deathla is going to be. Most likely it'll be alright though. Usually critics are off anyway, especially on Godzilla things, which are mostly fan-based anyhow.

hedorah was a pretty strong opponent for godzilla in godzilla vs hedorah, godzilla did have trouble beating it. the final wars movie totally screwed that up by jamming every monster battle possible in one movie and make some fight scenes incunciblely short. but i still look forward to seeing this 3d movie even if his foe is a hedorah ripoff because it as been a while since i have a good godzilla movie.

Godzilla could be fighting just about anything and I would be happy to see him come back. I sure hope the 3D movie kills at the box office, and the big G comes back from his hiatus.

Not to nitpick or anything, but, Hedorah is actually one of the STRONGER monsters in the Godzilla franchise. Final Wars just screwed him (Technically an "it", but it's easier to say "him") over with a pointless cameo.
To be blunt, just look at Hedorah in his starring role in Godzilla VS The Smog Monster. In that film, Godzilla HIMSELF cannot defeat Hedorah without the help of humanity. Hedorah nearly drowns Godzilla in his own toxic sludge. And, if that's not enough, Hedorah even manages to blind Godzilla in one eye and burns one of his (Godzilla's) hands down to the bone. Hedorah is one of Godzilla's deadliest foes since he's a walking toxic hazard.
If it weren't for Humanity learning that Hedorah dies if he's dehydrated, Godzilla would've surely been killed.

Oh I completely agree that in Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster, Hedorah was brilliant and a great monster. It's still one of my favorites from the original series. I was just sore that his return in Final Wars was so very, very short. I'm actually looking forward to Godzilla 3D to the Max very much, and can't wait to see what Deathla looks like and can do.

I'd heard the director cut out much of Hedorah's role in Final Wars because he thought the costume looked too phony...I thought from the few moments we saw that it was pretty nice! They could have had him in the dark and fog anyway...

Yeah, Hedorah's cameo in Final Wars was perhaps the most pointless scene in the entire film. Though, Mothra could give it a run for its money considering that the film makes such a big deal about her defeating Gigan centuries ago, and then doesn't have her appear until the last 10 minutes of the film only to end up killing Gigan Kamikaze-style.
