Description
A quick shot of my M1 Garand. Next to the M-14, probably my favorite military rifle of all time.Related content

I got to see one in person at a local gun shop it was priced at $1195, way too expensive for me to buy, but quite something to see

Wow is that a reproduction or an original model? Looks far better than mine!

Thanks! It's an actual rifle, not a reproduction. It's a Springfield model made in 1943. The rifle has been restored. It has a new walnut stock, and all of the metal has been reparkerized. It has an unused 1952 barrel on it, so I would assume that it was re-barreled during the Korean War but never issued.

Has the gas system been worked on to fire modern .30-06 safely?

Yes, but I only fire HXP .30-06 through it. It is fairly easy to get by ordering online.

Oh no you misunderstood me lol. I knew it was an actual M1 Garand I just wasn't sure if it was an original. However you did explain that it was an original in your response so I think we're on the same page. That's really neat though I've often thought of having the parkerized finish on mine touched up but I have a soft spot in my heart for the distressing on it.

I'd love a shot of the whole thing next to the ammo, I'd buy a print of that if you would oblige?

Thanks. I am a sucker for WWII military rifles of any country, especially Mosin Nagants, K98 Mausers, and ALL U.S. rifles!
