This is a singular render of Fire Lord Azulon from a larger art piece that I've been working on for quite some time now and which I hope to be able to complete very soon.Azulon, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and The Legend of Korra is copyrighted to Nickelodeon, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino.

I wish we learned more about him, in the comics he seemed nice in the beginning, but in the series he still remains a mystery and I don't think he ordered Ozai to kill Zuko since Lu ten's death was already bad enough, another prince dying would be catastrophic.
We only heard Ozai and Azula telling Ursa and Zuko Azulon wanted him dead, but i think they both lied and Azulon probably disowned Ozai and stripped him of his title as Zuko's father and have Iroh adopt his nephew to train as his heir since he saw Ozai neglecting Zuko as a firebending teacher and father and knew Azula was cruel.

Sozin may have started the war but it was Azulon that actually extended it to it's zenith. It was under his rule that the Fire Nation expanded to it'd greatest size and developed so much of it's industry.
I hate how he was never given much character development given that he basically managed the war for 75 freaking years.

I would really like for the series to explore is character further somehow. 75 years is a lot of time. He was also born when his father was approximately 100 years old. That certainly would have affected him somehow.

Sozin had Azulon when he was 82 years old........Really "over the hill" so to speak.
I mean think about it. Who was the one person managing the Fire Nation's war effort for 75 YEARS unaided? Azulon.
And all we ever see of him is a bunch of flashbacks showing him to be old and cranky.
