Description  (spoiler)

I just thought about how Snape could react to his fangirls after they read the new book... And that series " Fairly odd parents" came into my mind... I loved timmy´s father and his "DINKLEBERRRRG!"-thing...

Well, actually being a Snape-Fangirl never really stopped ... but the reading of "Harry Potter and the cursed child definitely reopened old sores... I mean, it was hard enough to watch and read Severus death in the last part of Harry Potter, and it will always be agonizing to do it in the future...
And then you´re reading this:

-
Hermione: "And - Snape? What does Snape do in this other world?"
Snape:" I´m dead, presumably. (He looks at Scorpius. Scorpius´s face drops, Snape smiles thinly.) You were a little too surprised to see me. How?"
Scorpius: "Bravely."

...
Snape: "Tell Albus - Tell Albus Severus - I´m proud he carries my name. Now go. Go!"

- Harry Potter and the cursed child, by J.K. Rowling and John Tiffany

A dark second future, in which Snape lives - but in the end also dies as a hero to save Scorpius, Snape being told about his death , Snape saying that he´s proud of Harrys son carrying his name, Snape smiling... This causes so many feelings...

Alas, Severus, you will never be save from your fangirls... They just find more reasons to love you day by day. Thanks for help, J.K!

I don't liked to much "The Cursed Child", but even in this hate I recognize few things that this book were amazings. Scorpius, the friendship between him and Albus Severus, Malfoy defending his child and his friend. But read about, AGAIN, the Snape´s death, was too much. My heart was broken in pieces again. Was my favorite and most hated part of this book.

And I hate Rose Weasley, seriously, I wanna get into the book and slap that girl.

Ah yes, the 'come on, our parents are famous we can pick the best kids as our friends ' -girl...
indeed. Severus appearance  was one of the few heartwarming (and devastating) moments of cursed child...

I was so happy when I read that part with Severus and also sad that he died again but I adore it when say about Albus and that he was smiling about it that show he would cares more then just Lily

I don't think I'll be able to see this performed, whether on stage or screen. I read Snape's lines and heard Rickman's voice. No one else can really play him.

This is what I think, too. Especially after i saw in the credits, the actor who plays Voldemort in the cursed child is also Snape! I mean what the hell...?

Aaah yes, my heart broke again when reading Cursed Child! But for these scenes I wished it was written in a more romanesque manner, unfortunately the play version made it a bit more plain than it may have been.. Still, it was amazing^^

Stay.... hm... i remember something... Have you seen that redone avps scene on the hogwarts train with snape and lupin? I think it was from the starkid-dvd, but this was also on youtube.
Where Snape is like "Get off the train! ...(Harry, Ron and Hermione go) you stay... (all stay) No, you stay, and you go... the opposite way... "

Lupin:" i think he just wants to make fun of harry."
Snape: "yes, just harry."
(Ron and Hermione go) "bye."
Snape: "Have a nice day at school!"

Did you know JK didn't write the cursed child?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JuanaSunfall In reply to TiBun [2016-08-08 17:20:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... I thought so but I was a bit confused by the book cover. The play is based on her ideas , right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TiBun In reply to JuanaSunfall [2016-08-08 20:06:37 +0000 UTC]

it's based off her seven books, not her ideas She just gave the permission for it to be published. It's basically a fanfiction (or fan script) that got lucky.

I personally was super disappointed in it on a number of levels. I've read better fanfictions that stayed truer to the lore and characters. So I'm glad that The Cursed Child wasn't written by JK. It would have been heartbreaking since her HP books literally saved my life way back when they first were published here.

It actually felt like reading a fanfic sometimes...i mean, voldemort as father???

Most plays these days are collaborations. Since JRK is a novelist, not a playwright, she collaborated with Jack Thorne, a professional playwright, and John Tiffany, a professional director, to produce the script, but her name comes first among the list of authors. There's no way she can escape blame for this monstrosity.

Since all three collaborators are experienced professionals in their respective fields, it can't be considered fan fiction in any sense. Except, of course, in the sense that it looks like something you'd get if you ran the contents of fanfic-dot-net through an algorithm, then decided it wasn't stupid enough.

If that's the case there is no excuse for all the butchering of the world's lore and how things have been set up to work. She should have corrected all the mistakes early on.

It's well-known in fandom that JKR doesn't even re-read her own work, much less correct errors in continuity. But this play has a lot bigger problems than just continuity errors.

When Snape asked, "How?" I expect he meant, "By what method?" not, "In what state of mind?" But Scor has been so tainted by Gryffindors that he thinks (1) courage is the only important characteristic a person can have, and (2) anyone who hasn't been Sorted properly desperately needs to be reassured that he has it. The correct answer is, "The Dark Lord had his snake kill you."

yeah... i guess snape was like : "uhh. yes. bravely. that is very accurate. are you sure, you´re in my house...?"

janach In reply to JuanaSunfall [2016-08-08 19:53:20 +0000 UTC]

I haven't read the whole play, but it seems to me that Scor acts less like a Slytherin than like a Hufflepuff, with his loyalty to his friend Albus. I consider that a compliment.

JuanaSunfall In reply to janach [2016-08-10 17:54:09 +0000 UTC]

It is. And again we have a proof that you don't need to be a famous gryffindor to be a loyal friend.
