It's a racial thing, alright. Did you see what happened in Princess Twilight Sparkle, Part 1? The ponies and the guards came to Twilight for leadership just because she was the only alicorn around! I mean, I'm sure Blueblood must have some political experience and he's royalty too. Why didn't anyone ask him for advice/instructions?

would you?
actually there was a comic where Twilight didn't grow wings and Blueblood had the guard catering to him while things fell apart.

Let's be serious here: Yes, Blueblood is an ass who treats mares with contempt. That doesn't necessarily mean that he might not be a canny leader, politician and even strategist. We just don't know enough about him to make judgements, fanon (and the opinions of Rarity fans) aside.

I think he must be A Prince of some Petty Kingdom, not a real one

My gut feeling is that he's the descendent of Princess Platinum, the heir to the old Unicorn Kingdom but the fact that the Alicorn Sisters are High Queens of all three pony tribes makes his position redundant and likely powerless (much to his frustration).

The look on your face when you realize that Celestia's guards are gray and she's white.

I will say this much. You are a princess as you have skills in magic that are almost equal to mine, Luna, and Cadence. It is you trained yourself so hard with learning new spells and mastering them in mere days. And, also as a result, you not only earned the right to become a Princess, or any other possible position in royalty, but you have also earned the right to become an Alicorn. Plus, even I feel that immortality would be too much for you to handle as I'm sure you would be depressed so much as a result of the eventual deaths of loved ones. So, you are not immortal as such.
Okaaaayyy.....wait. If that's the case, then how do you and Luna...and if she's included here, Cadence....manage to handle the emotional scars you must've felt after losing loved ones?
I just.....try to accept my fate as an immortal goddess.
...........wow. .....wait, why are you making that face?

You need to be at least Princess Sunbutt's height to live for eternity.

Actually... there's never been a word on Celestia and Luna being immortal. They get a lot older then normal ponies, living easily for over 1000 years, but they were never mentioned as immortal.

true, but considering that they lived a 1000+ years without aging one can asume XD

Rutana In reply to juanrock [2013-11-26 20:18:13 +0000 UTC]
Could just be a very slow aging still ^^
And ponies seem to live for a much longer time anyways. If you count everything in the show as canon, Granny Smith is "hundreds of years" old, so 1000 years don't seem to be THAT much anymore ^^
(Granny Smith was still a young mare when Ponyville was founded, yet according to Twilight, the tradition of Winter Wrap-Up is "hundreds of years" old.)

Twilight could have meant "earth ponies wrapped up winter for hundreds of years" in general.

Nope, she explicitly says, that Ponyville followed the traditions for hundreds of years

Maybe, but the conclusion that Granny Smith is that old is still a stretch.

Rutana In reply to SchwarzerRitter [2013-11-26 23:25:58 +0000 UTC]
I said "when you take everything canon which is stated by the show".
It can easily be explained as the writers not having noticed this bit, it's easily to overlook.
But if you want take everything as canon, which we see and hear in the show, Granny is several hundred years old.
If you follow this lore or not is still left up to you, I don't think that we will hear anything clear on that matter within the show actually ^^ So it's either "see as mistake" or "ponies get incredible old".
You could also go further and say, that you don't know how long a year in equestria is compared to a year for us. It could easily be much shorter - either having less days or less hours each day. But then it's starting to get very nitpicky and theoretical XP

juanrock In reply to SchwarzerRitter [2013-11-26 23:23:56 +0000 UTC]
actually its canon that granny smith is one of the founders of ponyville, so if there's a hundred winter wrap ups then granny smith has seen them all.

juanrock In reply to Rutana [2013-11-26 20:23:46 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but still considering an average pony life in 100+ years, still celestia has survived many generations in ptetty good shape. Again, everyone can reach their own conclusions about this xD but granted that immortality is far from canon

Rutana In reply to juanrock [2013-11-27 01:50:41 +0000 UTC]
Without proof from the show, everything is just fan theory either way, and that's totally fine ^^

Celestia: Oh, but dear Twilight, there is a purpose to all of this.
Twilight: There... is? What could it possibly be?
Celestia: Our enemies, of course! They're always watching.
Twilight: I don't understand-
Celestia: They know my sister and I are immortal. The majority of them don't strike because of this.
Twilight: So... what you're saying is-
Celestia: But if they could see an alicorn bleed... or suffer... or die...
Twilight: *gulp*
Celestia: Well, then they might just get cocky enough to come out of hiding. And then they're ours.
Twilight: S-so, Princess... y-you need me to-
Celestia: Yes, Twilight. You'll serve Equestria well. Soon enough, soon enough.
