Masamune Shirow has been my personal art god for some time. I felt that tribute was due to his awesomeness, and G.I.T.S is my favorite! Still trying to master the digital coloring thing, i'm pretty happy with this one. The tachikoma looked almost too smooth, but it worked out i suppose. Mostly colored using the same gradient technique i showed everyone previously. I experimented with different layer modes for the reflections and such, subtle but they do the trick. Hope everyone likes this one, now i can get back to some colabs that are WAY over due!!!

Not going to get too much into it, because I know a lot of people liked it. Β Basically, it had the shell but lacked the ghost IMO...Β Β

True. It had a few of the elements known throughout the movie but there were just a few important things missing. I'veΒ seen it with a brother and a few of his friends. I almost slept through the movie because I had little sleep that day.

I just think the animated series did such a good job at showing what direction is possible. Β I would have liked them to take that route instead of making concessions to try to appeal to a mass market (which clearly failed). Β They should have trusted the source material more (like Marvel), at the least the fans would have supported it then. Β It also set back anime live action movies in the US because it was a financial flop, so there's that.

yea, Masamune Shirow is the holy god himself! he is my favorit mangaka since I was 8.
from that time on GitS became my alltime favorit, still love it to death!
motoko is a really cool character and you have drawn her very well. I like how you put your own style into it.

It looks absolutely great. The overall cool colour palette is very suitable for the world of GitS, and contrasts well with the highlights. The details on both Motoko and the setting (is she on a Fuchikoma?) are rendered marvelously. Ya done good!

My work computer, where i finished this up, is a little darker evidently. Because the texture is more prominent on my home computer. That was not my intention, but if it looks subtle on your screen then it's all right.

i suppose you would be a better judge, you have a clearer idea of what my work use to look like from a bit ago. I on the other hand don't really see any progression in my work, but probably because i'm looking at it everyday. I'm glad you liked this one, it was really fun to make!

This makes me so happy. Shirow's works was amongst the first I ever read when I first got into manga, and Kusanagi is one of my favourite characters ever. The details on this are looking pretty solid, thus far. I may wait to offer critique since you have a pretty good idea of what you need to implement (notes on your WIP FTW!). I am really looking forward to seeing this as it goes along.

You say "can't" but i'm sure it's more a matter of not working at it much. I still start with a line sketch, then i just erase it as the details are applied. You should try it on the next piece you do!

The stubs are not optimal, but sometimes you have to make do with what you have. LOL, and in desperate situations a block can be a girl's best friend!
