Description
Here's the Twylos Map I made of the world in the Wayfarer's RPG supplement. I'm pretty proud of this. I grabbed a bunch of Renaissance and Fantasy world maps and came up with the look for this one.Related content

Unfortunately this one is the only one I have and it is owned by the folks who designed the world. I have a few others in progress for my own purposes, but nothing finished. As for making one, what would your budget for something like that be?

Good job! I'm needing a map for a story... would you be interested in creating one for $? Send me a message if so. Again, good job!

I made it in Photoshop. Using a custom brushand a few textures. Seeing as there has been a request for a tutorial. Ill see what I can do about that using the source file. I can show how it all fits together that way.

It would be possible to make this map in Photoshop, though the key thing would be getting the colour palette and layer styles right. Also the initial map.
I would be very interested in reading a tutorial

A Cintiq at this point, but I may have been using an Intuos 3 at that point.

Cool. I like it alot actually. The fullview made me like it after all.
What the name of the typeface?

Yeah, there's too much info on there for small versions, it really needs the full view.
I don't remember what the typeface was. I'll look into it and get back to you.

All the labels are a font called Goudy Medieval
Not sure about the continent name on the bottom right though. I flattened that layer.

This is quite beautiful. One of my favorite time-killers left over from my pen and paper RPG days is map making. How much of this is done by hand? Obviously not the lettering, but other than that....?
I'm quite useless w/ illustration programs, but maybe if you let me know what you used, I could teach myself how to do it.

Pretty much all of it but the lettering. I used photoshop and created a brush that gave me a scratchy inked feel. Then I just tried to keep the strokes natural looking.

Thanks, I was afraid it was some secret digital process I'm completely unaware of. Simple photoshop I can handle. Anyway, very nice work. Now I need to just work on my hand drawn map making skills. This is an inspiration to get better.
