stryker is done and he will be released soon but first i thought it was worth posting a comparison as these two are rather drastic revision differences (but they all are). i love them theyre such a matched setRelated content

Looking at your models I'm thinking, wow huge difference from the originals. Your Kabal model looks like a healed burn victim version "which I'm digging" and Stryker looks like a normal person now and not so much a unpolished static background model. You do some really good work and I love every bit of it, keep up the fantastic work.

thank you so much for the feedback! i really really appreciate it - while making these i sometimes wish i could take a step back and evaluate them from the perspective of, well, somebody who ISN'T the one working on them... so it means a lot to know how they're looking.
you got it exactly right with kabal - i called him revised healed kabal, after all. while his looks are based on his pre-damage model (which was sadly un-extractable) i wanted him to still have the scars. as for stryker, he was, in my opinion, one of the better face-sculpts in the game - i didn't have to revise his armature or 3d model itself, except for adding the scalp/hair - but his paint job left something to be desired, so he required a slightly different sort of revision process.
but yes thanks very much once again! i would love to hear your thoughts on the other models (especially the differences between the mkx and mk9 repaint visuals, if you feel there are any worth noting)

Oh girl it's no problem, "please know I use girl and dude as gender neutral terms." I just wanted to drop my opinion on the matter. Well clearly you can't become someone else unless you have a drag persona or something, But what could help is try looking at your work the next day after not working on it for awhile. I do that with my artwork, I call it "looking through with fresh eyes" it lets you look at your work a different way so you can see any mistakes and inconsistencies that you hadn't noticed the first time around. Yeah I know about that I wish someone could extract cutscene models I'm really wanting that Kabal Model before he was burned. Speaking of Stryker's hair is that johnny cage's hair from MK9? It looked like it to me watch me be completely wrong. Now with me personally I favor MK9 over MKX I don't know why but I just do. Dude if you want any opinions or tips on stuff you can gladly ask me.

haha thats totally fine, i get you re gender neutral terms. and i usually do that with taking a break, even when i do a model revision in a single day - like the sareena one, and a couple others - i almost always give myself a day to wait and check it over just in case (which is a good idea for nearly anything, but especially usable stuff like models)
i would LOVE that undamaged kabal model, but he was un-extractable - i took a look at the files and tried myself :\ it would almost certainly be possible, however, to create an uninjured kabal model from the healed kabal version i did - i just didn't want to, tbh. i wouldn't have much use for him other than flashbacks, and it's 25 years later in the current timeline now, so nah
that is indeed johnny's hair, but intensively revised (shorter, retextured, resculpted, etc) - he was the only one with usable hair in a generic style, so i basically just had to. and yea if you feel like it i'd love to hear your thoughts/comments on the other models!

(and out of curiosity, how come?) this is one of the few i've posted side-by-side comparisons for; i really should go back and do it for everybody else, because they are all almost even /more/ drastic than this (particular shout-out to the several women i had to paint entire outfits onto)

oh, don't worry about that! taking offense would require me to be at all interested in editing the previous models based on the suggestions of others, which - considering the set of 30+ characters still in the revision queue - i'm not!

i honestly didn't realize there was never a no-hat version until i started working on him! but now there is, and i think it suits him pretty well
