Description I know this is late but i just watched Oblivion. When I saw the Tet scene, I felt the urge to paint something.
Somehow I feel that this film as a Portal-ish feel to it. Maybe it's just me.

Yeah I guess that's an experience I'll never have.

There ought be movie theathers that run atleast one different old movie every night.Ā  Now since everything is digitial (not reels to store for the long time) they should be able to do this.

iĀ  knew something was suspicious when i saw those clones

A movie interestingly similar to Oblivion is some ways is "Moon"

Anyway, yeah, the first tip off in Oblivion that there are clones (not that I got this at the time--- really I just went "huh?") was when Jack crashed his ship right into the ground in the very beginning of the movie and next thing you know he's still flying and talking to Victoria like nothing even happened :-D ...Ā Ā  I love how the radiation zones were merely used to keep pilots from learning of the other clones.Ā  Each one was in each other's radiation zone :-DĀ Ā  I don't like the idea of Jack dying at the end.Ā  I also feel really really bad for Victoria.Ā  She was such a sweet woman and to just have Jack be in love with someone else was really cruel.Ā  Not that the name Julia and women with long black hair don't still wind my crank a bit.

Anyway, I run the group ArtificialIntelFic and one thing I'd like to do is get a lot of people to watch an AI film at the same time and then discuss either while watching or afterwards.Ā  Maybe the first film could be this one ... Let me know if you're interested.Ā  I really like this movie, but isn't the only one I like.

also do you think that the drones were a little too touchy?

when i mean touchy when they were about to kill jack when they were fixed

I think the moviemakers were trying to allude to the fact that they were as a primary mission designed to kill humans.

also i liked the fact that the other humans were hiding out and made it seem like they were the threat that the people were fighting off and that

jack harper was the leader of the resistance

Well, I guess in the end he was.Ā  But I tend to credit that other dude (the one who died with him) with that title.

I won't kid you.Ā  My whole reason for buying the DVD sightunseen was because I love any movie involving an AI.Ā  Interestingly we have no proof Sally was even an AI at all, though I suppose the drones were.

Was a fun and fascinating movie (even if my friend says she found the plot predictable), and that console that Victoria worked at was sexy enough to almost make the purchase of the movie worth it alone.

yeh the other jack was the leader...

um who was the original jack?

DallellesLaul In reply to tsumefan2 [2014-04-26 23:20:05 +0000 UTC]

I guess the original Jack was the one who went to the Tet for the first time in the NASA spacecraft.Ā  My apologies if I call the one that appeared the most in the movie the original cause he really wasn't I guess.Ā  He's just the one we all sympathize the most with.

Man Julia was patient in those scenes where Jack and Victoria were sitting with her being all romantic toward each other at the table, etc, etc...Ā  She didn't like blurt out "I'm you're wife!".Ā  I guess that would have ruined the movie :-D

yeh that would've ruined it all

how did the tet get the voice of sally?

DallellesLaul In reply to tsumefan2 [2014-04-27 01:08:12 +0000 UTC]

The Tet clearly intercepted NASA transmissions with the real Sally and impersonated her cause Victoria and Jack so seemed to trust her.
