And it's time for YouWon'tGetASniff's first racing season!

Sniff was registered and would start in the Longbow Stakes, just like any other yearling who had won at least one race in their first season. William was confident, as was Madelynn. But when race day came, their confidence turned to clean doubt. It was a rainy day at Heather racetrack and the track was treacherous. It was wet, heavy and deep. Just what Sniff did not like. William thought about scratching the stallion, but he knew that if he did so, he wouldn’t get the chance to compete in a G1 race before this year was over. And Sniff was considered the favorite in this race, he simply couldn’t scratch him.

The gates flew open and the horses was offered the wet track. Eight horses ran out on the track while the water sprayed around them. Madelynn drove Sniff towards the leading position, which perhaps was not his favorite place to be, but he charged forward and Madelynn allowed him. After just the first straight lap all the horses was covered with mud. They trudged through the course like motorboats on water. They would only take one curve in this race. Sniff was in the lead but Madelynn had to fight to keep the young stallion's fighting spirit up. He chopped and stumbled at times. Will was more nervous now. When the horses left the curve and headed towards the home stretch the other horses began to hunt Sniff and Madelynn down. Madelynn forced Sniff forward at a great speed, but still the other horses got closer!
"Don’t fall, don’t fall ..." thought William when he saw how they struggled on the track while he was holding his thumbs for them.

"Never again," howled Madelynn when she and William were alone in the trailer after the race day. "I'll never ride such a race with Sniff again! I was afraid we would kill him. "William agreed.
"He will not start again with such weather conditions, this was an the first and last time. Never again."
Back in the trailer, Sniff stood for himself and rested his body. He was exhausted but still looked forward and was ready for his next challenge in life.

But the very next race it was the same conditions, only a little bit nicer. I was only pouring and the track wasn’t too deep and wet. Will decided to start Sniff again since he was once again considered the favorite.
