Took a break from Ask Jily's to finish up this piece I started awhile back...I think he always wanted to tell her but never dreamed she'd reciprocate his feelings.

I remember JK Rowling saying she might have reciprocated them if he hadn't gone to the dark arts. Kinda like a Anakin and Padme thing, huh? Except they didn't get involved. I feel a bit sad for him

Yeah, she did say that. I feel like if he had told to her how he felt, she may have an expressed an interest back, which might have steered him away from the Dark Arts a bit. After all, he did join the DE partly to impress her.

Oh god. This- this- is why I can't bring myself to like JamesXLily. Okay, maybe they love each other, maybe they changed for each other...but I can't get over the feelings Snape probably had. It's too depressing, and I feel almost mean when I ship it, like Snape's tragedy is stupid or something.
I really like how, even though you like Jily, you can appreciate Snape too. Some people hate him (with good reason) but there are two sides to every character.
